Next West Virginia Football Coach

Terry Bowden

will be Terry Bowden. It has been close to 10 years since Terry has coached in college, but he had quite a successful career in the early 90’s with Auburn. Bowen immediately contacted West Virginia once Rich Rodriguez moved on to Michigan and discussions have continued since that time. I suspect this could be announced as quickly aas tomorrow. I sure hope the Mountaineers are ready for some illegal recruits. 😉

Personal Foul Florida State

Football referee

Twenty or so Semihole football players were caught cheating on an internet test so they won’t be able to play in the Gaylord Hotels Music City Bowl game or the first three games of next season. It’s always nice to know that at least 20 football players were taking the same internet course at FSU. I am taking a guess the course was underwater fire safety???

Fins Win!

Miami Dolphins cheerleader

Today is an excellent day because we no longer have to worry about the Dolphins going without a win in the exact same season the Patriots could go undefeated. The Dolphins defeated the Ravens 22-16 in overtime after Matt Stover of the Ravens earlier missed a feld goal to win the game. Dolphins fans received one Christmas wish early and now we will have to wait and see if the Patriots lose a game for them to get their other. Congratulations Miami! You deserve this bright spot after enduring a horrible season to date.

Bobby Petrino is a Pu$$y

Bobby Petrino resigns

I’m comtemplating right now who is a bigger dollar chasing lying weasel than Bobby Petrino these days. I’m not going to discuss the shadiness Petrino has exemplified in recent years by having SECRET discussions with Auburn in the middle of the night while still the coach of Louisville. I don’t want to even discuss jumping to the NFL a year after he signed a huge contract with Louisville because he stated he only wanted to remain the Cardinals coach right after chit chatting with LSU and the Oakland Raiders. These things don’t hold a candle to what Petrino pulled this evening. Bobby resigned as head coach of the Atlanta Falcons with three games to play in the season so he can become the new coach of the Arkansas Razorbacks. He can’t even coach his way through one season because things didn’t go his way? Especially after last night he said “We’ll come back on Wednesday to take a look at it, and then we’ll get back to work.” “We have to find something to rally around.”

Is the grass always greener on the other side Bobby? Do you not have the stones to stay somewhere and handle the ups and downs of a college or a pro program? Do you care about nothing but the mighty dollar? I hope you realize Houston Nutt was the coach of the year twice in the SEC with ARKANSAS and they still ran his ass out of Fayetteville!!!

Lying Les?

Les Miles to Michigan

Roughly two weeks ago we predicted Les Miles to Michigan as their head coach and Bo Pelini to Nebraska. We were correct about Bo, but it seemed after a press conference by Miles called hours before the SEC Championship along with signing a contract extension with LSU that ole Les would remain as the head coach of LSU. This morning comes a news report from the Detroit Free Press that Miles spoke to Michigan this past weekend which seems quite Sabanesque. Don’t count Miles out quite yet to be in the maize and blue next year!

Michael Vick Done as NFL Quarterback

Michael Vick sentenced

The sentencing came down today for Michael Vick and the formidable Judge Henry Hudson sentenced Vick to 23 months in federal prison. This is five months longer than most experts predicted Vick would receive, but I think the fact he failed a drug test and the Judge is very stern led to the longer stay in the pen. Even if Vick gets off for good behavior I find it highly unlikely ‘Ron Mexico’ would be playing again in the NFL before the 2010 season. Let’s say all the cards fell right and Vick was allowed back in the NFL in ’09 that still puts him over two years away from the game. Two years is entirely too long for a quarterback to be away from the NFL and still be successful in my opinion. Yes he is a tremendous athlete, but the game will have passed him by in respect to knowledge and skills so do not plan to see Vick ever again as a full-time quarterback. Could he play as a third down back or a slot receiver? That will be his only possibility and even then does a NFL franchise want the distraction Vick will bring if he returns. All in all this really is a shame, but Michael made this bed and now Michael must sleep in it.
