Little E Ready to Talk

Little E

Dale Earnhardt Jr. will make the long awaited and much rumored announcement tomorrow about his plans for the future in NASCAR tomorrow morning. He has been in negotiations for quite some time with DEI, but hasn’t been able to reach agreement on receiving 51% ownership in the company. His stepmother Teresa Earnhardt is oddly enough the one he has been unable to reach agreement with to date. Will he leave DEI? Will Martin Truex, Jr go with him? Will he stay at DEI? We will find out his plans tomorrow at a press conference in Mooresville, NC tomorrow.

Bristol Race NASCAR

StonecoldJZ and his lovely wife are heading to the big race tomorrow along with some friends.  I am extremely excited to see some of the scenes outlined below.

My Name is Juan Pablo Montoya…

Juan Pablo Montoya

and i just won my first NASCAR race yesterday in Mexico City.  People are saying I spun out my own teammate Scott Pruett in the Telcel-Motorola 200 to capture the Busch Series event, but it was purely an accident.  Pruett isn’t happy with me and he has even accused me of of “dirty driving.”  Look at the clip below and tell me what you think.

Daytona 500 Thriller

Daytona 500

There was a lot of fireworks in the Super Bowl of racing and the finish was possibly the best one ever. (SEE VIDEO BELOW) Mark Martin was leading until turn four of the final lap when from Kevin Harvick shot up from sixth place to cross the finish line a fraction of a second in front of Mark Martin. This was quite a weekend for Kevin Harvick in Daytona after winning the Busch race on Saturday.

Michael Waltrip Is In Deep Doo Doo

Michael WaltripMichael Waltrip has been docked 100 Nextel Cup driver points, his crew chief and competition director have been suspended, and his car provider has to be extremely disappointed. This all happened because jet fuel was found in his engine after Sunday’s qualifying round for the Daytona 500. Call me whacky, but adding jet fuel to your car seems like a wee bit much especially when NASCAR officials can point out when one bolt is 1/8 inch too long therefore causing some sort of advantage. I mean seriously these officials are good and they are going to figure out jet fuel and Waltrip’s team is definitely paying the price. His crew chief could be fired before week’s end and Toyota is going to do some serious bitch slapping with Waltrip after they have been embarassed in their first year on the circuit.

God Bless Benny Parsons

Benny Parsons

Today NASCAR and the community lost an incredible man.  Benny Parsons passed away today after being in the hospital since December 26th with complications from lung cancer.  Benny Parsons was NASCAR champion in 1973 and won Daytona in 1975.  Benny also played a key role as a NASCAR announcer with ESPN and most recently NBC.  You will be missed BP!

Busch League No More

Busch Series

Anheuser-Busch has announced they are ending sponsorship for NASCAR’s number two series after the upcoming season. Busch just celebrated their 25th season as the title sponsor this year of the growing series. Anheuser-Busch is paying close to $10 million a year and announced they were pulling out to reassess marketing efforts and because they were beginning to dilute themselves with Budweiser and Busch. Here I thought Busch beer was always diluted. (ba dum dum) There is no announcement at this time who will take over sponsorship, but you can guarantee it will cost more than $10 million a year due to its growth in popularity. ESPN will become the sole source for television coverage this coming year for NASCAR so between the two I have no doubt they will find a quality suitor to take over sponsorship. Make sure in 2007 you “head for the mountains of Busch beer.”

SportsUnderground.com’s Dumb A$$ of the Week Award

SportsUnderground.com's Dumbass of the Week AwardThis week it was actually a close call between Jimmie Johnson and Terrell Owens for our prestigious award. Jimmie Johnson appeared to take out Dale Earnhardt Jr. on purpose yesterday at Talladega therefore pretty much eliminating any chances of “Little E” winning the Nextel Cup. While we would love to give the award to anyone associated within the “Rainbow Warrior” entourage we can’t do it this week. Terrell “Overdose” Owens ends up taking the cake as the Dumba$$ of this week. TO after much hoopla and smack talk rolled into Philly yesterday as a Dallas Cowboy and laid an egg. Owens had no catches at halftime and ended up with 3 for 45 yards while his arch enemy Donovan McNabb went off for 354 yards and a big 38-24 win for the Philadelphia Eagles. Hat tip McNabb and thumbs down Owens.

SportsUnderground.com’s Dumb A$$ of the Week Award

Dumb A$$ of the Week AwardEach Monday we give away this extremely prestigious award to a very deserving candidate based on fan’s feedback and our own biased opinions. 😉 This week there is no doubt the award goes to Tony Stewart. Tony “the untamed Tiger” Stewart showed us again yesterday he can’t stay under control. He decided to try and wreck Clint Boyer after he felt Boyer pushed him too close to the wall in a turn and this attempt sent Boyer right into Carl Edwards car. Edward’s car was pretty much done for the day and it could hurt his chances for the Nextel Cup series based on the poor finish at Pocono. Carl Edwards did however get his revenge by spinning Stewart out in the pits, but the #20 car was barely damaged.

Stewart was asked after the race about Edwards and he had the nerve to say he didn’t know what Edwards problem was spinning him out in the pits, but if he did have a problem he could wait till after the race to settle it. You should take some of your own advice there Captain Obvious and quit trying to wreck everyone who tries to out race you. You need to grow up, listen to your own advice and quit finding your way into our Dumb A$$ of the week award.

Danica to NASCAR?

Danica PatrickThis seems to be one hot rumor after her dad was spotted this past weekend in Chicago talking to team owners stating he wants to find Danica a team. What a huge win this would be for NASCAR if they could add Danica Patrick into the already interesting mix of personalities housed within their empire. It makes a lot of sense to me that both parties would want to do it so don’t be surprised if we receive confirmation on this very soon. Juan Pablo Montoya of the IRL has already confirmed he will be racing with Ganassi in 2007.
I guess the bigger question will be what is going to happen to the IRL without Danica? bye bye
