Dwayne Out of Fave Five for Heat

Dwayne Wade

Dwayne Wade is done for the season so he can try and heal his surgically repaired knee of over a year ago. The Heat are by far the worst team in the NBA so I can only assume they decided it wasn’t going to hurt to put Wade on ice. Wade has missed close to 100 games in his first five seasons so this has to be a huge concern for Pat Riley and the Heat. Get better Dwayne because you are a special player.

StonecoldJZ’s Sound Off

StonecoldJZ's Sound Off

* Big Ben just hit the mother load with an eight year deal worth $102 million. Roethlisberger joins Peytong Manning, Brett Favre, Carson Palmer, Donovan McNabb and the suspended Vick in the $100 million club for signal callers. Many people are questioning whether the Steelers should extend the wealthiest contract in franchise history, but I personally think Ben deserves every dime. Lets just hope there was a provision in the contract for staying away from motorcycles. 😉

* The Houston Rockets won their 15th game in a row matching a franchise record. That is all well and good, but now that Yao is out of the season the Rockets will be lucky to make it to the playoffs. Remember this statement!

* Michael “The Burner” Turner has signed a lucrative deal with the Atlanta Falcons and should be the starting running back in ’08 for Hotlanta. Turner has been mired behind Tomlinson for years in San Diego and I fully expect a huge season this coming year. Nice work by the Falcons especially after so many dumb moves in recent months. On a side note Warrick Dunn immediately asked for a release due to this acquisition.

* Kobe dropped 52 yesterday in a win over the Dallas Mavericks. The Lakers only lost TWO games in all of February and are a legitimate threat to win it all this year.

* Ernie Els won the Honda Classic yesterday ending a four-year winless drought. Whoopty do! Els is no longer a top player in the game and is not competition for Tiger Woods.

Vince Carter is Vain

It has been said before that the only person Vince Carter cares about is Vince Carter and I think you will find this video clip to be a testament to that statement. How in the blue hell do you not know that newly acquired Devin Harris practiced with the team the day before Vince?

By the way Vince, Devin Harris was the leading scorer for the New Jersey Nets last night with 21 points in a 120-106 victory over the Bucks.

The NBA Trading Deadline Has Come and Gone

NBA Trading Deadline

This definitely has to have been one of the most active seasons of note in respect to big name players being moved this year in the NBA. Things got started back in late December when under appreciated Kyle Korver was shipped out of Philadelphia to surging Utah for Gordan Giriceck and a protected first round pick. Then on February 1st the Lakers acquired Pau Gasol and a second round pick from Memphis for Kwame Brown, Javaris Crittenton and Aaron McKie. The Lakers absolutely stole Gasol from the Grizzlies and definitely improved their chances of winning the NBA Finals. Roughly a week later the Suns countered the Lakers trade by shipping Shawn Marion and Marcus Banks to Miami for superstar Shaquille O’Neal. Also, a little over three weeks ago I predicted Kidd would be traded to the Mavericks well before the rumors began and ultimately this week Dallas able to get the deal done. Devin Harris, Gana Diop, Trenton Hassell, Moe Ager, Keith Van Horn and a pair of draft picks were shipped to New Jersey in order to acquire Kidd, Malik Allen and Antoine Wright. The final big trade came through yesterday when Drew Gooden, Larry Hughes, Shannon Brown and Cedric Simmons were traded from the Cleveland Cavaliers in exchange for Joe Smith, Ben Wallace and Chicago’s 2009 regular second round draft pick. Also as part of the three-team trade, Chicago sent Adrian Griffin to Seattle. There were some other smaller trades like Mike Bibby to the Hawks, Gerald Green to the Rockets, Kurt Thomas to the Spurs, and Bonzi wells along with Mike James to the Hornets so all in all it was a very hectic time. I ultimately think the Lakers helped themselves the most especially if Andrew Bynum can come back completely healthy. Only time will tell and this has to be the most buzz around the NBA since the Jordan days.

Dwight Howard’s Super Man Dunk

Not sure if this can be called a dunk or if it should be called a thrunk (throw+dunk), but it is damn impressive nonetheless. Check out the video clip of Dwight Howard’s Super Man Dunk and thanks to Howard and Gerald Green for making this year’s dunk contest special.
