Cleveland Cavaliers Hit Rock Bottom

The Cleveland Cavaliers broke their own historic mark last night, after losing to the Dallas Mavericks 99-96. The Cavs have now lost 25 games in a row surpassing their very own previous NBA losing streak record of 24 losses set in the early 80’s. Cleveland was very close last night, but ultimately blew it in typical fashion. The Cavs trailed by three points with 10 seconds to go and forced a Mavericks turnover that allowed them a chance to tie the game. Instead of calling a timeout in order to set up a play, Anthony Parker jacked up a three-pointer that clanged off the front rim. Cleveland got the rebound, but Antawn Jamison and Jamario Moon didn’t know how much time was left and time expired without another shot.

The outcome produced a number of different reactions. Head coach Byron Scott had a cynical smile. Boobie Gibson had a lifeless expression on his face. Jamison sneered, then had a twisted smile as well. At the same time Jack Daniels was offered up as an in-game commercial during the Mavericks’ broadcast. Oddly enough alcohol is probably the only way Cavaliers fans can handle this abysmal season.

Is LeBron James Preparing to Leave?

Rumors have been flying for at least two years now that LeBron James will be leaving the Cleveland Cavaliers after this season when he becomes a free agent. Well, King James filed paperwork yesterday to change his jersey number from 23 to 6 starting next season and it has all the conspiracy theorists in a tizzy. This news surfaced on the same day the Cavaliers played the Knicks for the final time this year and only a few months before free agency begins. If you plan on going somewhere else you might as well start anew with a completely different number ala Michael Jordan, right? In New Jersey Courtney Lee currently rolls with #6, but no one on the New York Knickerbockers has that number. Hmmm.

Let me play devils advocate here for just a second. LeBron idolizes Michael and stated earlier this season that no player should wear #23 and went on to say Jordan should be the new NBA logo. So might this be the reason for the change in his jersey number? Also, LeBron owns a $25 million dollar pad in Akron that he wouldn’t be selling anytime soon, if ever, should he choose to leave. And finally, LeBron would get paid more by the Cavs than any other NBA team could offer and he actually does seem to be someone who leans towards the ‘home is where the heart is’ mantra. In my humble opinion LeBron isn’t going anywhere and all the speculation is just media fodder.

I do see one small possibility that could lead to LeBron leaving town and it will make things really tricky if it does happen. Should LeBron win the NBA Finals this year he very well might feel like his work is done in Cleveland and move on to a different team. So to all you Cav fans do you want to win it all this year or do you want to keep LeBron? I think I know the answer to that question, but I will leave it at that for now!

LeBron James Dunked on Video

Thanks to eBaumnation.com the proverbial cat is out of the bag in respect to LeBron James getting dunked on at his own Skills Camp a couple of weeks ago. I guess Nike and King James didn’t confiscate all the footage that day because this video definitely shows Jordan Crawford getting all sorts of jiggy with it on LeBron James dome.

Sheed To Join Cavs?

Rumors are swirling around Cleveland that the Cavaliers are very interested in signing former Detroit Piston Rasheed Wallace. The seasoned veteran would reportedly get about $10 million a year for two years if he was to sign with the Cavs. Sheed was an integral part of the 2004 World Champion Detroit Pistons and has had an impressive 14-year career in the NBA. It was painfully obvious in the Eastern Conference Finals that the Cavs big men were inept when it came to stopping Dwight Howard so the acquisition of Rasheed certainly wouldn’t hurt their inside presence. Rasheed is getting up there in age, but I truly think he could bring a nice edge to the Cavaliers that they currently don’t have on the roster.
