Rookie Takes Pocono

Denny Hamlin

Denny Hamlin is quickly becoming the talk of the town in NASCAR.  Hamlin who is only a rookie won the Pocono 500 yesterday at Pocono Raceway.  Hamlin was able to hold off teammate Tony Stewart on the way to the checkered flag and only laps after a scary accident involving Jeff Gordon who was in contention.  Gordon’s brakes failed and he literally hit the wall full speed ahead.  It took some time before Gordon popped out of his car and he said later it was one of the hardest hits he was ever involved in.

Dianetics Meshing with Nascar

OK, so it wasn’t enough to run crazy ass Tom Cruise in front of us for the past couple of years, acting like a fool. Now, the publishing company that is responsible for L. Ron Hubbard’s book “Dianetics” is coming at us from another angle. That’s right folks, Nascar is no longer just a sport for crazy rednecks (me included), but crazy people in general. I mean, with all the politically correct movements going on, it is only fair that ALL crazy people have a shot at Nascar. The car will attempt to make the field of a late model race in California on Sat. GEEEEZ!

Kurt Busch Fined

Kurt BuschNASCAR officials just made me a very happy man.  They fined 21-year old Kurt Busch yesterday $50,000 along with docking him 25 points in the Cup standings and docked his owner Rick Hendrick 25 championship points for his incident this past week at the 600 in Charlotte.  This ranks right up there with some of the biggest fines ever levied by NASCAR and for good reason.  When I saw Kurt Busch throw part of his HANS safety device at Casey Mears on the track I was stunned and upset.  Mears simply got loose then ran into the wall and came back down on Busch with no ill will.  Kurt Busch is young and has lots to learn and if he doesn’t soon will someone please just bend him over their knee and give him a much needed spanking!!!

Finally Little E

It has been quite some time since Dale Earnhardt Jr. drove his #8 into victory lane until last night in Richmond.  Oddly enough Kevin Harvick lead 272 of the 400 laps at the Crown Royal 400 and Earnhardt was determined to shoot for 2nd because Harvick looked so strong.  The race changed though when the 8th caution arrived and Earnhardt along with other contenders went in the pits for new tires and Harvick decided to stay on the track.  Earnhardt Jr. quickly captured the lead and held off a charging Denny Hamlin.  The win could be the sign of big things to come after Earnhardt Jr. experienced the worst season of his career last year and had not won a race in 27 attempts.  The win was his third in Richmond and 17th overall.

Jimmie Johnson Conquers Talladega

It’s only been a year since “Little E” called Jimmie Johnson an idiot for his role in accidents that caused 39 accidents at Talladega. Johnson won his second restrictor plate race in two tries this year after holding off a charge from Tony Stewart at the Aarons 499 today. The race was delayed an entire day due to severe thunderstorms the day before. The win vaulted Jimmie Johnson into first in the Nextel Cup Standings with Matt Kenseth trailing by 21 points.
