Wild Dennis Rodman Interview

Dennis Rodman has long been considered a ladies man and I think this phone interview will further solidify Rodman’s mystique. Dennis called into Jorge Sedano’s radio show in Miami on 790 the Ticket this morning to discuss LeBron and the other Heat stars. Quickly though the interview goes off the rails and it doesn’t take a genius to determine there is some serious hanky panky going down in Rodman’s bedroom.

The whole call can be heard here: Dennis Rodman interview
(It takes a few seconds to load, but well worth the wait)

College Basketball Talent Continues to Decline

Has anyone sat back and thought about what could be going on these days in college basketball if the players actually stayed for an entire four years? This year’s preseason AP All-American team could be: Guard John Wall (Sophomore), Guard Tyreke Evans (Junior), Guard Derrick Rose (Senior), Forward DeMarcus Cousins (Sophomore), Forward Blake Griffin (Senior). The talent doesn’t drop much at all when you think about who could be on the second team: Guard Eric Gordon (Senior), Guard OJ Mayo (Senior), Forward Derrick Favors (Sophomore), Forward Evan Turner (Senior), Forward Michael Beasley (Senior). By no means is it the kids fault for jumping ship in order to make the cabbage, but it is diluting the college product more and more. I am still a HUGE college basketball fan, but take a look at who is on this year’s AP All-American Team.

Kyle Singler (Duke)
Jimmer Fredette (BYU)
Jacob Pullen (K State)
Harrison Barnes (UNC)
JaJuan Johnson (Purdue)

When Harrison Barnes is the second most well-known name on the team you know NCAA basketball is feeling the pinch. Barnes has a chance to be a lottery pick, but after Barnes the other four are by no means a guarantee. Singler will probably be a lottery pick, but it doesn’t seem many of the scouts see him as a “game changer” at the next level.

By no means am I hating on the game of college basketball rather I’m pointing out things need to change in order to keep the talent around a little longer.

Sharapova Soon to Be Off the Market

Tennis star Maria Sharapova and Laker guard Sasha Vujagic have announced they are engaged. Vujagic made the engagement public before his preseason game last night against Golden State. He said he popped the question at his home on the one-year anniversary of meeting Maria at a friend’s barbecue. Obviously Sasha is a VERY lucky man because Sharapova is currently number two on the Top 14 SU.com Sports Babes list. Hat tip Sasha and we wish you two love birds the very best.

Cheaterpari at it Again

Speculation is swirling around another Kentucky basketball recruit which isn’t surprising when you consider who is at the helm. Highly touted center Enes Kanter will be receiving a call from the NCAA in the coming days after reports surfaced that he had been paid thousands of dollars from a professional Turkish basketball team. The GM for the team allegedly provided housing to Kanter’s family for more than three years and paid Kanter $6,500 a month in his final season with the team. If these reports are true there is no way 6-11 Kanter will ever play ball for the Wildcats which would be a blow to the 2010-11 squad. Since this has broke before the season has started Calipari will dodge another bullet, but sooner or later he is going to get caught.

Hall Of Fame for the Best Owner in Sports

25 years ago Jerry Buss decided to offer “Showtime” in as many Southern California homes as possible. Just a few seasons after he purchased the Lake Show from Jack Kent Cooke Buss decided to give the average fan an opportunity to watch all the Lakers home games for $20 a month by launching Prime Ticket. Due to his vision of changing the landscape on how he Lakers could be seen along with owning a team that has won 10 NBA Championships during his 31 year ownership Dr. Jerry Buss was inducted into the NBA Hall of Fame.

I salute you Jerry Buss who won a coin flip and drafted Magic Johnson which started a wave of dominance only the NY Yankees have enjoyed since 1980.
