Dead Man Walking

Kelvin Sampson

Kelvin Sampson’s days as head coach of Indiana basketball are numbered due to NCAA recruiting violations. This buffoon decided to break the same NCAA rules he previously broke while head coach of the Oklahoma Sooners. Sampson made over 100 illegal phone calls to recruits while he was still under restrictions from the 500 or so illegal calls he made while at Oklahoma. I have to admit I’m very shocked Sampson hasn’t already received the boot by Indiana, but it’s only a matter of time. I can imagine Indiana fans won’t stand for a frickin cheater standing on the sidelines representing their University.

On a side note, there appears to be a ground swell of supporters calling for Bobby Knight to return as head coach. What??? This has to be a few old boosters trying to revive the past, but it won’t work guys. He can’t recruit anymore and in all reality isn’t that good of a coach these days. Indiana must come to the realization that Sampson does need to be fired, but then you start fresh rather than bringing back the General.

Duke and Dickie V Prevail

Dick Vitale

Dick Vitale returned last night to his role as the top broadcaster of college basketball after missing the last two months due to vocal cord surgery. Vitale returned to broadcast North Carolina versus Duke which is the biggest rivlary in all of college basketball and some will say the biggest rivalry in all of sports. If you have ever watched Vitale announce a Duke you know he has a love for Coach K and Duke that simply can’t be hidden. If the truth be known I think Vitale has the biggest man crush on ole Mike that I have ever witnessed. Vitale probably couldn’t be happier today because Duke prevailed at Carolina in a commanding 89-78 win. This give Duke a commanding lead in the ACC and also an edge on a possible #1 seed in the NCAA tournament.

Bob Knight Bows Out

Bob Knight

Tonight comes what I percieve as shocking news out of Lubbock, Texas. Bob Knight has called it quits mid-season as the head basketball coach of the Texas Tech Red Raiders. Knight is the winningest coach ever in men’s college basketball with 902 wins. Knight is not only known as a winner in college basketball he is also known as one of the most controversial coaches of all-time. “The General” had many run-ins with players, students, citizens and of course referees where his fire and brimstone exuded in typical firey fashion. His son Pat Knight will take over the team immediately and Bobby will walk off into the sunset.
