Papelbon Can’t Dance

Check out the video clip below to see Papelbon do his best Riverdance impersonation. I don’t think we will ever see the Sox stud reliever on Dancing with the Stars based on this celebration dance from last night.

Rocks vs Sox

World Series 2007

The Boston Red Sox capped off their ALCS comeback last night with a 11-2 victory over the Cleveland Indians. The Sox were down 3 games to 1, but then outscored the Indians 30-5 in the final three games to win the pennant. Sabbathia and Carmona were 0-3 in this series and this was ultimately the downfall for the Tribe. I know MLB is happy the Sox made the World Series and I think this has the makings of a good series. The blazing hot Rockies will have cooled off from their 8 day rest when the Series starts this Wednesday, but they have to be competitive. I don’t see them winning Game 1 against Beckett, but just don’t get blown out so your confidence isn’t shaken. Make sure you check back with us Wednesday for our MLB Bet of the Day. 😉

Atta Boy Joe

Joe Torre

Joe Torre has just turned down a one-year offer from the Yankees. The offer was for $5 million with $3 million in incentives. I’m so glad he punked George and tweedle dee and tweedle dumb (Hank and Hal) after they took so long to make a decision. I hope they get stuck with former Yankee Steve Howe as their manager. You da man Joe!

Rockies Win Amidst Controversy

Check out the video clip below of the Wildcard Playoff tiebreaker between the Rockies and Padres last night. Do you think Holliday was safe or out? I hate to say it, but plays like this make you realize MLB should think about instant replay. Either way the Rockies won 9-8 and now move on to face the Phillies.

MLB Bet of the Day

Tonight San Diego must travel into Denver in a do or die game against the surging Rockies to see who wins the wild card spot in the National League. The Padres lost their last two games of the year against the Brewers while the Rockies have won 13 of their last 14 games. San Diego is starting NL Cy Young (my opinion) Jake Peavy (19-6 2.36 234 strikeouts – leading each pf these categories in the NL) while the Rockies hand the ball to Josh Fogg (10-9 4.79 ERA). I know pitching wins in the playoffs so we should go with Peavy and the Padres, but Colorado will win this game tonight and go on to face the Phillies.

Colorado wins the moneyline +121

Overall Record:

NFL 25-13-2
College Football: 20-21
MLB 1-0
College Basketball 48-37-2
NBA 6-4

Brand that Beeotch

Mark Ecko

Last week we discussed Bonds record breaking home run ball and the fact billionaire clothing mogul Mark Ecko was giving the public an opportunity to decide the fate of the ball. We voted to launch the ball into space, but after 10 million votes were tabulated it has been determined the most famous baseball in the world will be branded with an asterick instead. We are comfortable with the public’s decision, but we still think it would have been cool to send it into orbit.

The Baseball Hall of Fame has announced they will accept the ball with an asterick after initially indicating they wouldn’t accept a marked up ball.
