The Pittsburgh Pirates, currently the worst professional sports organization, wrapped up yet another losing season over the weekend in a series against the Mets. The Pirates have now recorded 18 straight losing seasons and they are getting worse rather than better. The 41-83 Pirates recently opened up their financials to local media and the numbers are shocking when you consider the product on the field. In the last three years the organization has raked in over $34 million in large part to MLB and the revenue sharing plan. Owners of a team that haven’t been above .500 since 1992 have decided to screw the city of Pittsburgh and laugh all the way to the bank. Team President Frank Coonelly and the Nutting family are exploiting what is obviously broken in baseball and why the popularity of the sport continues to wane. If a salary cap for Major League Baseball isn’t instituted, minimum and maximum, this issue will continue to get worse and America’s past time will become America’s joke!
The Braves are 9-2 in their last 12 overall and the Rockies are 0-8 in their last 8 games coming off a win. Oddly enough the over is 8-1 in Bonderman’s last nine starts so we will follow the trend. Good luck!

The Mountain West Conference has experienced some highs and lows this summer and it appears the roller coaster ride isn’t over yet. Back in June the MWC celebrated the announcement of Boise State joining the conference, but then days later Utah accepted an offer to join the Pac-10 which was a major blow. Now there are reports that BYU has decided to go independent in football and will rejoin the WAC for all other sports. The move would leave the Mountain West with only two football powers in TCU and a pissed off Boise State. The main reason I see BYU going independent in football is so they can be the sexy chick at the party when a major conference like the Pac-10 wants to grow again. I think this is only the beginning of many more changes in the coming years to the college athletics landscape. The mega conferences ultimately will come to fruition because the money is just too enticing.
The Rangers are 5-16 in their last 21 games in Tampa so Shields and the Rays get it done. Houston is 10-1 in Myers’ last 11 home starts and 8-3 in their last 11 games after a win. Good luck!
