College Football Bet of the Day – October 22nd, 2010

Friday night ESPN college football has South Florida against the Cincinnati Bearcats. The under is 16-5-1 in Cincy’s last 22 games in October and we expect it to happen again this evening. Good luck!

The NFL is King

So far this year the NFL has had some excellent Monday Night games on TV, but this past Monday was a real stinker. Tennessee and Jacksonville isn’t very appealing to a national audience and quite frankly the Jaguars have a hard time getting people in northern Florida to care about them. Considering the game was a 30-3 blowout one might think the MLB playoff game between the nationally loved Yankees and the Texas Rangers would win in the TV ratings, right? WRONG! The abysmal MNF matchup was watched by 7.2% of US households and the Yankees/Rangers were only watched by 6.5% of homes. Imagine how bad the NFL would have crushed baseball if the Giants/Cowboys, Jets/Patriots or Packers/Vikings would have been pitted against each other. America’s pastime continues to lose their audience while the NFL gains popularity at a rapid pace. If the NFL is smart, and I believe them to be, they will figure out the looming collective bargaining agreement and insure there is no stoppage in play. The NFL is the cream of the crop when it comes to professional sports at this time and a lockout is something they must avoid at all cost.

College Football Bet of the Day – October 21st, 2010

The #1 Oregon Ducks are at home this evening against conference foe UCLA. The Ducks are 8-2 against the spread in their last ten home games. This is one of the only chances for Oregon to play on a national stage this year so I expect a real show. Good luck!

Oregon -25

MLB Bet of the Day – October 20th, 2010

Texas Rangers pitcher C.J. Wilson faces C.C. Sabathia this afternoon with an opportunity to end the AL Championship series against the New York Yankees. While I’m very torn on whether Texas can actually close it out today I do think the game goes over because sooner or later the Yanks bats have to wake up. Good luck!

Yankees/Rangers over 8

Heisman Watch 2010 Update

#1 Cameron Newton: Urban Meyer and the Florida Gators secretly have to wishing they didn’t suspend Newton for stealing a laptop back in 2008. Newton has rushed for 562 yards and 10 TD’s in just his last three SEC games and has led the Auburn Tigers to a #5 ranking in the country. Cam plays LSU this week and Bama in a month so if he continues to shine he will be your Heisman winner.

#2 LaMichael James: LaMichael is averaging 169.6 rushing yards a game so far and is a major component in the nation’s top offense. Oregon will need to stay undefeated through the entire regular season in order to have a shot because east coast voters will look elsewhere.

#3 Kellen Moore: Moore’s biggest issue is that he keeps getting pulled from games. Moore was 14/16 and threw for 231 yards along with two touchdowns this past week. Kellen has thrown 16 touchdowns and 1 interception which is an impressive ratio. Boise absolutely needs to go undefeated or Moore can kiss any chance he has at the Heisman goodbye.

#4 Andrew Luck: Luck is back in the picture because other candidates have fallen out of the race for now. He seems to be the clear cut number-one pick in the 2011 NFL Draft and is on pace for 3,000+ yards passing and at least 30 touchdowns.

#5 Landry Jones: Oklahoma is at the top of the BCS rankings and will remain as long as they don’t lose. Landry is averaging almost 300 yards a game passing and has 14 touchdowns and only three interceptions on the year. Does anyone remember former Sooner QB Jason White from a few years ago???

Goodbye to Denard Robinson and Mark Ingram.

MLB Bet of the Day – October 19th, 2010

The Philadelphia Phillies are 22-5 against the spread in their last 27 road games. Philly is also 6-2 in Hamels’ last eight starts against San Fran. Good luck!

Florida Fans Aren’t Happy

Gator fans are none too pleased with their offensive output this year and unfortunately for them Tim Tebow is long gone. Florida hasn’t put up 300 yards in either of their last two losses to LSU and Bama and fans are pointing at offensive coordinator Steve Addazio as the problem.

We have seen before that Gator fans are web savvy and leverage the world wide web to voice their frustrations. A perfect example would be FireRonZook.com that was launched many years ago after fans had endured enough misery under the Zooker. Now FireSteveAddazio.com is up and running and another Florida fan decided to post this ad on Craigslist recently mocking Addazio.

Florida (4-2) takes on Mississippi State (4-2) this Saturday at 7:00 in the Swamp. If the offense sputters again this weekend Addazio might want to join the witness protection program.

College Football Bet of the Day – October 15th, 2010

The weekend has arrived and we have another great weekend of football ahead. The ESPN Friday night game this week pits Cincy against Louisville in a Big East battle. The Cincinnati Bearcats are 2-8 ATS in their last ten games overall and Louisville is senior heavy this year.
