Yao To Phoenix Might Make Sense

Poor Yao Ming is again done for the season due to an injury to his 7’6 frame. Yao has now played six seasons in the NBA and outside of his first year he hasn’t had a complete season. Ming played in 80 games in his second year, 57 in third, 48 in fourth, 55 in fifth and 77 games this year before breaking his foot in Game 3 against the Lakers last week.

So why are we proposing Yao to the Suns you might ask? Well, they must have the best trainers in the NBA if not in all of professional sports. This season Grant Hill played the entire regular season and Hill has never once played a full 82-game season until this year. This by itself is an absolute miracle that Hill who quite possibly might have the weakest ankle ever was able to get through an entire season. Secondly, Shaq Diesel played in 75 games this year which is the most Kazaam has played in since he played in 79 games for LA back in the 2000 season.

I’m not sure how the Suns could pull this trade off, but an idea might be Yao and McGrady for Amare Stoudemire, Leandro Barbosa and Matt Barnes. The bottom line is Yao is extremely talented and if he could only stay healthy he could definitely take a team to a world title.

Gary Dell’Abate Does Equal Baba Booey

I’m a huge Howard Stern fan and for anyone else who is we all know and love Gary “Baba Booey” Dell’Abate. The relentless shots he takes on the Howard Stern Show is constant and brutal, but he does his very best to take it in stride. That being said, one thing discussed a lot recently on the show was how nervous Gary was to throw out the first pitch at a New York Mets game. He got so worried with just a few days left he even thought about letting one of his boys throw out the pitch so he wouldn’t have to worry about screwing up. Well, in the end Baba Booey did go through with the pitch and I have to say it quite possibly is one of the very worst of all time. Check out this video of Gary Dell’Abate attempting to throw out the first pitch. Let the festivities begin this Monday on the Howard Stern Show.

NBA Bet of the Day – May 9th, 2009

The Cavaliers continue to dominate so I will keep taking them until they do me wrong. I’m a little leery for the first time in these Playoffs to take Cleveland just because Atlanta is very good at home and they have to win Game 3 to have any chance in the series.

Cavs -8.5

Natalie Gulbis In The Hunt

Natlie Gulbis is tied currently for fifth at -10 after the third round wrapped up today at the Michelob Ultra Open at Kingsmill. Lindsey Wright and Cristie Kerr are tied at the top of the leaderboard with scores of -15. Gulbis has hit 35 fairways so far and 38 greens in regulation and has shot under par each round. She has her work cut out for her tomorrow, but if Natalie can shoot sub-65 Gulbis could win her second ever LPGA career title.

Manny Ramirez Bombshell

The Los Angeles Times is reporting that Manny Ramirez has tested positive for steroids and will be suspended 50 games starting today. DAMN! I have to admit I did not see this one coming in the least even after I told myself I would never be surprised about another MLB athlete getting caught. The list is getting smaller and smaller for MLB stars who never touched the stuff.

Wily Coyotes

Yesterday came word that the Phoenix Coyotes filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy which could lead to a court-approved sale of the team. Word is the Coyotes lost in upwards of $45 million this past year which isn’t surprising in the least. If you live in Phoenix…err…Glendale would you have any interest in hockey whatsoever? It makes it even tougher to drum up a fan base when you haven’t made the playoffs since 2001-2002. Even the “Great One” Wayne Gretzky involved as head coach and Managing Partner hasn’t been able to get things rolling for the Coyotes.

Wayne Gretzky coach of the Phoenix Coyotes
Have no fear hockey lovers because Canadian billionaire Jim Balsillie has made a $212.5 million offer for the failing organization with the caveat they must return to Canada. Let’s not forget this team left wonderful Winnipeg back in 1996 for the mirage that is Phoenix. These offers have been made many times before for failing hockey teams, but this one might just go through. The only thing that might hold back the transaction would be if the 12 remaining Coyote fans were to lay down in front of the U-Hauls in protest as they head out for Canada.

NBA Bet of the Day – May 6th, 2009

The reigning NBA Champs cannot go down two games to none in Boston against Orlando so I will take the Celts.

I’m going with the two teams who battled out it out in The NBA Finals last year. I expect to see the Celtics focused tonight in order to take the all important Game 1 of their series against the Magic. Taking the Lakers because they play very very well in LA.
