NBA Bet of the Day – May 19, 2009

Everything tells me I should take the Nuggets due to their performance so far in this year’s playoffs. Chauncey Billups and Carmelo Anthony seem very focused on making the NBA Finals, but I don’t think they get the Game 1 tonight in LA. The Lakers have owned the Nuggets in recent matchups and I also think the Lakers will be much more focused tonight than they were in the Rockets series. Take the Lakers.

Lakers -6.5

Overall Record:

NBA 40-32
MLB 25-17-1
NHL 0-1
College Football 106-92-1
NFL 103-72-5
College Basketball 197-149-6

NBA Draft Lottery Tonight

Tonight is the NBA Draft Lottery which means the worst fourteen teams in the NBA all have their fingers crossed right now with hopes of landing the number one selection. Sacramento has the best mathematical chance at 25% with Washington and the Clippers in second and third at 17%. Oklahoma City has almost a 12% chance, Minnesota and Memphis at 7%, Golden State almost 5%, the Knicks at 2.8%, Toronto 1.7%, Milwaukee 1% and finally New Jersey, Charlotte, Indiana and Phoenix all under 1%. In recent years the percentages haven’t come to fruition though because the team with the worst record has only won the lottery twice in the last fifteen years. Last year is a great example with the Bulls winning the lottery when they only had a 1.7% chance of hitting. I have a strong feeling Oklahoma City wins this year’s lottery which would allow them to draft Oklahoma native Blake Griffin with the first pick. The Lottery is only a few hours away so we won’t have to wait much longer to find out who hits the jackpot.

John Wall to Kentucky

After weeks and weeks of speculation the word is the number one point guard coming out of high school will play for the Kentucky Wildcats next year. Before Calipari left Memphis for Kentucky it was pretty clear Wall was headed to Memphis, but once Calipari bolted it left Wall reconsidering his options. Wall was courted by Duke, Florida and Miami in a big way along with Memphis and Kentucky, but in the end Wall went with his initial notion of wanting to play for Calipari. This latest signing for the Kentucky Wildcats is another huge notch in the belt for the program. Less than two weeks ago stud forward Patrick Patterson pulled his name out of the of the NBA draft after averaging almost 18 points a game last year as a Sophomore. Throw in the signing of highly touted newcomers like Daniel Orton, Darnell Dodson and DeMarcus Cousins and you immediately have a team that could contend for a National Championship this coming season. Finally, let’s not forget there is a possibility that scoring machine Jodie Meeks could return to the program as well. Meeks averaged over 27 points a game last year and is currently determining if he can be a first round pick this year or if he should return to college. I got a strong feeling Meeks is going to return to Kentucky due to the potential the team has to win a title. We will find out very soon if Meeks will be back and if he returns I think the Wildcats are immediately the best team in the country. I’m sure Michigan State, Kansas, Duke and other solid programs will feel differently, but Kentucky could be back and stronger than ever folks.

MLB Bet of the Day – May 18th, 2009

Take Kyle Loshe and Cardinals tonight at home. The Brewers have been playing solid baseball, but I think St. Louis wants to avoid the sweep and a larger deficit in the NL Central.

Cardinals -125

Overall Record:

NBA 40-32
MLB 25-16-1
NHL 0-1
College Football 106-92-1
NFL 103-72-5
College Basketball 197-149-6

Smoltz’s Crib

Check out this video of John Smoltz’s backyard which includes three putting greens, golf tees, baseball field, tennis courts and a lot of acreage.

NBA Bet of the Day – May 17th, 2009

I will take the Celtics purely due to their recent experience in game sevens. It also doesn’t hurt that Boston is playing in TD Northbank Garden tonight against Orlando. Celts should already be eliminated if the Magic would have played their cards right so look for this to the incentive that pushes Boston over the top.

Celtics -2.5

Overall Record:

NBA 40-31
MLB 25-16-1
NHL 0-1
College Football 106-92-1
NFL 103-72-5
College Basketball 197-149-6

Citi Field Streaker

WE’RE GOING STREAKING! WE’RE GOING STREAKING UP THROUGH THE QUAD AND INTO THE GYMNASIUM, Snoop, Snoop-a-Loop, Hey hey its cool, its cool, bring your green hat lets go.

Ok, this is not quite as funny or cool as the famous scene from “Frank the Tank” in Old School, but check out this video anyway of a planned streaking at Citi Field home of the New York Mets.

NBA Bet of the Day – May 12th, 2009

Celtics have to be on a high after stealing game four down in Orlando with a last second shot from Glen “Big Baby” Davis. Boston has to get this one done in TD Banknorth Garden if they plan on winning this series.

Celtics -2.5

Overall Record:

NBA 39-31
MLB 25-16-1
NHL 0-1
College Football 106-92-1
NFL 103-72-5
College Basketball 197-149-6

Daly News

Last week we talked about John Daly’s new look and the fact that Daly has definitely slimmed down since his ban from the PGA tour last November after being found drunk outside of a Hooters in North Carolina. Well, things continue to look up for JD because he had his best finish in nearly four years this past weekend with a tie for second place in the Italian Open. Daly has been playing recently on the European Tour, but we will see soon if he can make a successful return to the US Tour in June when his European run of five events ends. The second place finish should boost Daly’s current ranking of 794th in the world.

NBA Bets of the Day – May 11th, 2009

The Cavs have now covered 11 games in a row and if King James keeps playing like he did Saturday night then there is many more covers to come. I’m going with the Nuggs basically because the life was sucked out of Dallas this past Saturday night and I think they are primed to be swept. Happy winnings!

Cavs -9.5
Nuggets +1

MLB 25-16-1
NHL 0-1
College Football 106-92-1
