U.S. Soccer just pulled off one of if not their biggest upsets ever today in the semifinals of the Confederations Cup against all mighty Spain. The United States beat FIFA’s top ranked Spain 2-0 in Bloemfontein, South Africa and this is the first loss for the Spaniards since late 2006! U.S Soccer was only able to get off 4 shots the entire game, but Jozy Altidore and Clint Dempsey were both successful in finding the back of the net. This is a huge shot in the arm for the #14 ranked team by FIFA and leads them to their first men’s final ever in a FIFA competition. By all indications it appears the United States will face Brazil who thoroughly embarrassed U.S Soccer earlier in the Cup.
TO is Joanna Krupa’s Bi#*h
Terrell Owens and model Joanna Krupa were partners in the ABC show The Superstars where an athlete gets paired up with a celebrity so they can compete in a series of athletic competitions. If you noticed I said “were partners” because it only took one show for the team to be eliminated and they were the early favorites to win it all. We have both the censored and uncensored videos for you that display the tongue lashing Joanna Krupa gave Terrell Owens after the loss. How does it feel now TO?

Cowboys Video Wall Gaming Experience
Have you ever had the pleasure of playing Xbox 360 or PS3 on a nice 60 inch LCD television? The visual is stunning, but I bet it doesn’t hold a candle to playing on the 72×160 foot LED video wall in the new Cowboys Stadium. It would be so nice to have one of these at home, but the problem is it wouldn’t even fit in mine. Check out this video for a sample of every gamers dream.

Oden Resorts to Hoggin
It was two years ago this week that Greg “Don’t call me Grady from Sanford & Son” Oden was drafted as the number one selection by the Portland Trailblazers and the sky seemed to be the limit. Then unfortunately the harsh reality of being injury prone hit Mr. Oden in the face and over a two year span he has played in a total of 61 games and is averaging a meager 8.9 points and 7 rebounds a game. Now don’t get me wrong, Greg got paid for sure, but it seems his game is not only been lackluster on the court it has also seems to be affecting his off court game. This young lady might be the sweetest thing ever, but can’t an NBA star of his stature score something a bit better? At least he looks happy with her.
Maria, Maria
As we discussed less than a month ago Maria Sharapova seems to be regaining her old form coming off a shoulder injury suffered last year and we couldn’t be happier. Well, today Maria hit a minor speed bump against #72 ranked Viktoriya Kutuzova, but she was able to gut out a first round win in two sets 7-5, 6-4. Sharapova will next face #45 ranked Gisela Dulko out of Argentina and we are expecting a more polished game from Maria.

And the top pick
out of Oklahoma University coming in at 6’7 238 out pounds is…Taylor Griffin. Taylor Griffin you might ask? The brother of Blake Griffin was the top pick today in the Harlem Globetrotters third annual player draft. Until today I had no idea this even existed, but I guess the old saying you learn something new everyday continues to ring true. At least Taylor can always tell Blake that he was technically drafted first because Blake won’t be drafted #1 until this Thursday in the 2009 NBA Draft.
The Globetrotters selected 2009 College Slam Dunk Champion Tony Danridge number two out of New Mexico and the Slam Dunk runner-up Charlie Coley of Charlotte with the third pick. The other two picks consisted of 2009 Patriot League POY Derrick Mercer of American and Tim Howard who is a former high school basketball standout and also a goalkeeper of both the U.S. World Cup soccer team and Everton of England’s Premier League. All the picks will have an opportunity to try out and play for the Globetrotters in their 84th season.
Serena Ready for Wimbledon
Serena Williams won her first round Wimbledon match today against #154th ranked Neuza Silva 6-1, 7-5. By the looks of this picture taken recently while she was out training Serena has her eyes set on a possible third Wimbledon championship. As a side note, is it just me or is Serena looking more and more like Ben Wallace each day?
La Russa Living Legend
Yesterday Tony La Russa won his 2,500th game as a MLB manager which is an astonishing mark when you really stop to think about it. There have only been two other MLB managers ever to surpass this mark and they are Hall of Famers Connie Mack with 3,731 wins and John McGraw with 2,763. La Russa in his 31st year as skipper will more than likely eclipse McGraw’s mark of 2,763 within the next three years, but I don’t see him getting to #1 because Mack managed for a whopping 51 seasons to hit the 3,731 win mark that has him in first place of all-time. I know a lot of people feel that baseball managers have the least impact on professional teams than any other leader, but when you reach a milestone like this people should really stop and take notice.
MLB Bets of the Day – June 18th, 2009
