Top 10 Reasons Why it was Time for Bobby Bowden to Retire

The long suspected news finally came true today when Bobby Bowden announced he is retiring as head coach of the Florida State Seminoles. Things got pretty sticky at certain points this year and it was widely known that Bowden was on his way out even though he wanted to continue to coach. Bowden will “coach” Florida State in their bowl game this year and could receive more than a million dollars to walk away from the program. Bowden is the winningest coach in ACC history and at one point Bowden he had one of the most dominant programs in college football history. The Seminoles between 1987 and 2000 finished in the top five every year and also won two national titles.

NFL Bet of the Day – November 30th, 2009

Tonight we have what could be the best Monday Night Football game of the season. The Patriots roll into New Orleans to take on the 10-0 Saints who have the best offense in the NFL this year. I think this game is much more important to the Saints than the Patties so look for them to elevate their game to an even higher level.

Saints -1.5

Tiger’s Terrible Thanksgiving Holiday

Over the last couple of days controversy has been swirling around Tiger Woods and the car accident he had outside of his house early Friday morning around 2:25 AM. It has been reported Woods initially ran into a fire hydrant at the end of his driveway and ultimately ran into a neighbor’s oak tree which led to him losing consciousness for a few minutes before police arrived. The more interesting part of the story is both rear passenger windows were smashed by his wife Elin Nordegren because she was trying to help him get out of his SUV? Can you please run that by me again because I don’t think I heard that correctly? I’m sure there are tons of clubs lying around the residence, but why would she need to bust out both rear passenger windows with one of Tiger’s gap wedges in order to try to rescue him. This story stinks to high heaven especially when you consider for the second day in a row the Wood’s family has denied an interview with Florida Highway Patrol, but might grant such an interview today.

Keep in mind earlier this week the National Enquirer reported Tiger was having an affair with a NYC woman named Rachel Uchitel. The two met last summer in Las Vegas and have reportedly been sexting each other and even shacked up together earlier this month in Australia during one of Tiger’s golf tournaments. TMZ is now reporting Tiger recently told a buddy he will need to purchase a “Kobe special” which is a play on words for buying a ring to satisfy a highly ticked-off wife.
The media circus for this story has just begun and when you are the most prominent athlete in the world it will only get worse before it gets better. For the first time in his storied career, Tiger Woods is about to be drug through the mud by the tabloids and media outlets that are more than likely tired of his squeaky clean image. To date Tiger has down an excellent job of lying low, but now it’s all going to hit the fan for Mr. Woods.

Holiday Wishes from Jail

It just isn’t a happy Thanksgiving without some holiday shenanigans related to a sports athlete. Former Green Bay Packers offensive lineman Ross Verba is more than likely going to be sitting in a jail cell this holiday weekend for a little issue he currently has with The Palms casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. Verba reportedly owes The Palms $26k based on an article in The Las Vegas Sun a little earlier this week. This isn’t Verba’s first issue with paying off casinos and do not forget Verba once signed a $20 million contract with the Detroit Lions. Either Verba really sucks at gambling or he has hit one hell of a bad streak of luck

College Football Bet of the Day – November 24th, 2009

Tonight 1-10 Ball State travels to 5-6 Western Michigan in a typical Tuesday night MAC matchup. At first glance it looks like Ball State who is 1-4 on the road this year doesn’t have a chance, but if you look at how well they have been playing recently it could sway your opinion. The line is set at Western Mich by 11 which I don’t see happening. Look for the Cardinals get under that 11 and make this a close game and maybe even win.

Ball State +11
