It seems only weeks ago you were talking about how your jail stint changed your life and you had plans of becoming NFL Man of the Year. Well, it won’t be happening with the Chicago Bears because they kicked your a$$ to the curb today. A possible DUI arrest in Arizona at 3:30 in the morning was the reason and I’m glad to see they are sticking to their guns. The Bears stuck with you through thick and thin and they were clear on a zero tolerance policy and you took a piss on that policy. My only question now is how long is it until you end up with the Oakland Raiders???

Tank Johnson has been suspended for the first eight games of this coming season. Roger Goodell continues to show the players of the NFL he isn’t messing around with the zero tolerance policy. Tank had all sorts of off-the-filed issues in recent months and will now pay for his gun fetish. We are normally hard on athletes who screw up here at SportsUnderground.com, but I don’t think Tank is a bad guy. Its more of a case of making bad decisions and based on his comments in recent weeks he has learned his lesson. Prove us right Tank!

The Chicago Bears and Lovie Smith agree to a new four-year, $22 million extension that will allow Lovie to remain in Chicago through 2011. Smith stood behind the Bears stating all the while he would get a new deal and sure enough in the end he did. I would sure hope so considering the man was the lowest paid coach in the NFL and took his team to the Super Bowl. Nice move Chicago.

The San Diego Chargers signed a new head coach today in Norv Turner.  I personally do not agree with this hiring at all, but what are you gonna do when it’s the middle of February and you are looking for a new head coach.  The bigger pick up in my opinion is former defensive coordinator of the Chicago Bears Ron Rivera.  Rivera was rumored in all sorts of NFL head coach openings, but let go by the Bears for some odd reason.  The Chargers decided to pick him up as their linebackers coach. 

This worthy recipient didn’t necessarily do something flat out stupid this past week, but I guarantee you he is feeling like quite the Dumb A$$.  Even before the Super Bowl started people were calling Rex Grossman the worst quarterback to play in the big event.  He also had at least half of the Chicago Bears fan base calling for him to be benched for good.  If you have these things hanging over your head you sure don’t want to throw two interceptions, lose two fumbles and have just over 50 passing yards through three quarters ultimately leading to a 17-29 loss to the Indianapolis Colts.  Rex you better have nine lives or else you will not be around to play next year in Chicago.  I highly suggest you lay extremely low or get a second home outside of Chicago for the next couple of months.

Cook County Judge John Moran granted a defense request for Tank Johnson allowing him to leave the state of Illinois due to his pending gun possession charges.  This allows Tank Johnson a defensive tackle for the Chicago Bears to play in Super Bowl XLI.  The charges were some of the most startling I can remember in my life when officers found three rifles, three handguns and over 500 rounds of live ammunition. Then not too long after the gun charges Johnson’s bodyguard Willie B. Posey was gunned down in a nightclub while hanging out with Tank.  The judge did tell Johnson to keep his nose clean or else he would face dire consequences. I hope Miami police are ready for the TANK when he arrives because with Tank Johnson you just never know.
