Trump Set for Flight

Last night was one of the most anticipated Monday Night Football games in recent memory, but it ended up being a complete bust. The Patriots embarrassed the Jets 45-3 and the game was basically over with before the half. There was actually an entertaining moment in the game when ESPN showed a shot of Donald Trump sitting in Robert Kraft’s luxury box. For just an instant doesn’t it look like Trump could take off when the gusts of wind get under his heavily hair sprayed lid?

Kris Jenkins Done for the Season

An MRI today has confirmed defensive lineman Kris Jenkins tore his ACL last night in the Jets loss to the Ravens. This is the second season in a row that Jenkins has suffered a season ending knee injury which might also lead to ending his career. This is a big blow to the Jetties especially coming off their home opening loss in front of a national TV audience. Deep down I was holding on to the notion of no injuries or controversies so Rex Ryan would have no excuses when they fell flat on their face and didn’t make the playoffs. I will give Rex Ryan a little recognition because previously I didn’t even think twice about the Jets, but now I watch with hopes of them losing and losing bad.

The Jets Hard Knocks

New York Jets, come on down. You’re the next contestant on HBO’s hit TV series “Hard Knocks.” The show reports on the day-to-day routine of NFL teams during the very busy season of training camp and shows a lot behind-the-scenes action. Coach Rex Ryan, GM Mike Tannenbaum and owner Woody Johnson announced the exciting news today at their training facility in Florham Park, New York during a scheduled press conference. The upcoming season promises to be a interesting to watch taking into account the colorful comments coach Ryan will surely share along with Bart Scott who is one of the biggest s*$# talkers in the league. Pile on Darrelle Revis the best cornerback in the NFL, future Hall of Famer LaDainian Tomlinson and rising star quarterback Mark Sanchez and you should have a very entertaining series. Typically NFL teams tank the season they are on the show, but last year the Bengals bucked the trend and made the NFL playoffs after participating in “Hard Knocks.” I know the Jets expect to do even more because they have aspirations of making it all the way to the Super Bowl this coming year.

Cromartie in a Crunch

Antonio Cromartie is without a doubt a talented cornerback, but is he really a good pickup for the New York Jets? Cromartie has had serious off the field issues with the San Diego Chargers in recent years and I think they were happy to see him go. He has seven kids with six different women living in five separate states, and he has been named in at least five paternity suits in just the past two years. Reportedly the Jets had to front Antonio a half-million dollars from his 2010 salary in order to help him address his looming paternity issues. Cromartie is set to make $1.7 million this year in the final year of his five-year deal and wasn’t supposed to start getting paid his annual salary until the first week of the regular season. That wasn’t going to work for Cromartie though because all his baby-mamas were due some serious cash and he needed to pony up. I don’t care how talented a player might be when you see this type of scenario playing out off the field you need to make a conscious decision to not bring the guy into your organization. Cromartie will probably be a good compliment to Reavis, but for how long and when will all the drama catch up with him?
