Mississippi Motorsports Update

Keith Langston of Mississippi Motorsports

Keith “Mississippi” Langston strutted his stuff this past weekend at Orange County Speedway in his first full Purestock race of the year. Langston had some car problems in his initial race of ’08 a few weeks ago, but came back this week in positive fashion by finishing 5th out of 16 racers Saturday evening after starting out 8th. Well done Sippi!

Michael McDowell Qualifying Accident

Rookie driver Michael McDowell was involved in an horrific accident during qualifying this past Friday at Texas Motor Speedway. Check out this video clip of the Michael McDowell crash and then tell me how he was able to walk away from the mangled mess!

Little E En Fuego

Little E

Dale Earnhardt Jr. won his second race in a row today for Hendrick Motorsports at Daytona by crossing the finish line first in qualifying race Duel 1. Earnhardt led 26 of the 60 laps in this victory and he is quickly proving that NASCAR’s most popular driver will bring many smiles to his fans this year.

Little E Wins Bud Shootout

Dale Earnhardt Jr

Dale Earnhardt Jr. won his very first race for Hendrick Motorsports last night at Daytona International Speedway. We are one week away from the Daytona 500 and Hendrick Motosports looks better than ever with the addition of Little E alongside Jimmy Johnson and Jeff Gordon. This should be a very interesting Sprint Cup (yes, now it’s Sprint rather than Nextel) season and SportsUnderground.com looks for Earnhardt to be strong candidate for Sprint Cup Winner in ’08.

Mississippi Motorsports Roundup

Keith Langston Mississippi Motorsports

SportsUnderground.com’s favorite racer Keith “Mississippi” Langston had a solid ’07 and we wanted to give our peeps a summary of his results.

* Finished 3rd in points at Orange County Speedway
* 10 starts at the famous OCS
* 10 top 10 finishes, 9 top 5’s, 6 top 3’s and 2 wins.

* Mississippi Motorsports also finished 13th in points at South Boston Speedway with a limited schedule.

We really look forward to warm weather and racing this year with Keith Langston. We think 2008 will simply be great!

Indy 500 Winner Means NASCAR Contract

Dario Franchitti

The winner of the 2007 Indianapolis 500 Dario Franchitti has signed a multi-year deal with Gnassi Racing. Franchitti also won the Indy Series Championship so this is a huge blow to the racing circuit. Franchitti will race in the #40 Dodge and could race as soon as Homestead at the end of the year. Franchitti’s significant other is Ashley Judd so I’m sure we will see more of her on NASCAR Sunday’s in the coming years. 🙂

New Rumors on Earnhardt’s Number Next Year

We previously reported that Dale Earnhardt Jr. would run in #38, but it now appears he will double his old number and run with #88. I like both options and I’m anxious to see what the final determination will be.

Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s New Number

There are whispers in NASCAR that Little E and his camp have asked Nextel Cup rookie David Gilliland for the #38. Brilliant! This combines the dearly departed #3 of Earnhardt Sr. and Jr.’s #8. I hope this is true.

Keith Langston Reaches Victory Lane

Keith Langston

This is a week late, but I want to make sure and give a big shout out to Keith “Mississippi” Langston. Last week at Orange County speedway Langston the lead driver of Mississippi Motorsports basically was first in the race wire-to-wire. Congratulations Keith!

No #8 for You

Earnhardt #8

It is official now that Dale Earnhardt Jr. will not be taking the #8 with him to Hendrick Motorsports. His stepmother Teresa Earnhardt made ridiculous demands all throughout the negotiations because in all reality she simply didn’t want Jr. to have the number. Teresa continues to show how much of a b$%ch she really is!
