New Orleans tight end Jeremy Shockey was rushed to a hospital today in Vegas, but the word on the streets is that Shockey is going to be fine. Shockey was found unconscious at around 2 p.m. at the Hard Rock Hotel and taken to a nearby hospital. Shockey was partying at the standard Sunday pool party called Rehab and the Hard Rock Hotel when he became unconscious due to “dehydration.” By the sounds of this story it sounds like Shockey might want to attend alcohol rehab before football season comes back around.

Greg Paulus has decided to return to his home to play football with Syracuse.
Yes, Im not kidding! The former Duke point guard will enroll in graduate school at Syracuse and try to make a comeback in football for the Orangemen. I can see it now…Jim Brown will be having a press conference on how this is somewhat racially motivated.
The decision ends a month of speculation whether the one-time star high school quarterback from Syracuse would resume his football career.
Lets see.. over the last 3 months he worked out for the NFL, Michigan and now after Duke.. uh ha.. Duke said no Paulus ended up choosing a program gasping for air.
Maybe its because he feels comfortable paying in domes? Or he just likes the color of Orange? Whatever the reason this is a slap in the face for a once hallowed program. Hey UCLA needs someone Greggy!
Mayfield’s On Drugs

NASCAR’s most unlikely suspect – Jeremy Mayfield was suspended indefinitely after failing a random drug test last week.
According to ESPN – Mayfield is the first driver affected by NASCAR’s new random drug testing policy and he says he took Claritin D, which is an over-the-counter allergy drug that contains pseudoephedrine, a substance banned by most sports. This along with a prescription drug caused the postive result according to Mayfield. NASCAR’s substance abuse policy administrator says, that that is not even plausible.
If Mayfield violated NASCAR’s substance abuse policy, then fine suspended him. This sport is way to dangerous to have someone hopped up on drugs operating a vehicle at 200 mph with 42 others people right at their side.
But get this, the drivers are not provided a list of banned substances. The NFL, NBA, MLB, PGA Tour and NCAA each make available public lists in their drug testing policies.
Dr. Charles Yesalis, a Penn State professor who has testified before Congress on performance-enhancing drugs states “That alone to me is ludicrous. That just kind of violates your sense of fair play. The drivers don’t have a union, but if somebody did that to me I’d go get myself a nasty lawyer. What if somebody in management or ownership doesn’t like you? They can use that as a weapon against you.” (espn.com)
NASCAR will not release what test Mayfield failed.
If it turns out that this is a “false positive” NASCAR will have to call the black flag on itself.

Greg Paulus Is Confused

We always thought Paulus was a Dookie tride and true, but in the last few weeks he has made us think differently. First we got word Paulus was going to join the Michigan Wolverines football team and then it appeared he might go to Syracuse instead to play quarterback. Now comes this picture where it appears Paulus is rocking a hated Tarheels shirt and posing for photos? The baby doesn’t seem to be amused by Paulus’s mysterious ways.

We had no idea NFL teams went to these measures to insure they weren’t drafting someone they would regret, but in all reality it makes complete sense. Facebook, MySpace and other internet portals are definitely tools to learn more about someone. If you are about to spend millions of dollars on someone I guess you will pull every trick in the book in order to not flush those millions down the toilet in a few years.
Bungles at it again

We have been banging on the Cincinnati Bengals for the last two years or so due to all the arrests and problems they have experienced off the field. The Bungles have made many statements reccently about how they are cleaning up their act, but how are we supposed to believe that with their most recent signing? Keep in mind they still have Chris “The consistent convict” Henry on their squad and now they sign Tank “I got guns” Johnson. It is comical to me how poorly run this team is so if you want to hire Tank after a run of 10 arrests in a 14 month period then so be it. I just hope you don’t expect anyone to take you seriously and better yet just know you are fighting with the Lions and the Raiders for the a$$ end of the NFL.
Michael Vick in the Mafia?

Michael Vick’s lawyer Michael Blumenthal told a bankruptcy court today that Vick has lined up a construction job for when he gets out of the pen. Who in the heck set up this gig Mr. Blumenthal Tony Soprano? I mean do you think we really believe for one split second that “Ron Mexico” is going to be laying bricks or painting walls? Blumenthal said when Vick is released, he plans to work forty hours a week for a construction company. He did not disclose the wage or give any other details about the type of work that Vick will be performing. Vick is actually set to take the stand tomorrow before the proceedings wrap up. He’s scheduled to be released from custody in July, but could be sent to home confinement as early as late May. I do want to commend Vick for serving his time and paying his debt to society, but please don’t try and BS me or anyone else that you are going to be working construction to pay back your losses. Tony Soprano doesn’t want you and the bigger question will be does the NFL and Roger Goodell?

C’mon.. WTF is going on with America’s game?
With the new rule change to again protect the QB the defense is going to have to become more passive when going after the passer.
Due to what happened to Tom Brady last year when Brady suffered a torn ACL in his left knee on a low hit by Bernard Pollard with 7:27 left in the first quarter of the first game of the season. All Pollard did was rush the QB, get blocked and just like he has been taught all his life was crab to the ball and make the tackle.
Now with new rule changes this same play would probably be a TD as the defensive player will have to get up while being held and hit the QB around the waste.. all this within 5 seconds from the time of snap.
Without this injury would anyone know who Matt Cassel is? would he be now making over $14mill? No.. but thats football..
Whats next? having those soccer slideline guys run out with those mini stretchers?
