Florida Fans Aren’t Happy

Gator fans are none too pleased with their offensive output this year and unfortunately for them Tim Tebow is long gone. Florida hasn’t put up 300 yards in either of their last two losses to LSU and Bama and fans are pointing at offensive coordinator Steve Addazio as the problem.

We have seen before that Gator fans are web savvy and leverage the world wide web to voice their frustrations. A perfect example would be FireRonZook.com that was launched many years ago after fans had endured enough misery under the Zooker. Now FireSteveAddazio.com is up and running and another Florida fan decided to post this ad on Craigslist recently mocking Addazio.

Florida (4-2) takes on Mississippi State (4-2) this Saturday at 7:00 in the Swamp. If the offense sputters again this weekend Addazio might want to join the witness protection program.

Big East Football Blows

In case you haven’t noticed football in the Big East this year is abysmal. Week five in college football is in the books and the Big East has a total of two wins against BCS Conference teams. The conference power rankings provided by CBS has the “Big Easy” below the Mountain West and even the WAC which has to be embarrassing for the former powerhouse. The main reason for this fall from grace is due to the recent coaching turnover.

Several sharp coaches have moved on to other programs and due to these departures their former teams have suffered. Bobby Petrino left Louisville after coaching the Cardinals to a 12-1 record in 2006 and an Orange Bowl victory. Since his departure Louisville has gone 6-6, 5-7 and 4-8.

Cincinnati has lost two solid coaches in Mark Dantonio (Michigan State) and Brian Kelly (Notre Dame) over the last five years. Last year Cincy was 12-0 before meeting their demise in the Sugar Bowl against Florida. This year the Bearcats have yet to beat a FBS team.

Rich Rod bolted from West Virginia in 2007 after leading the Mountaineers to two BCS bowl wins and three years in a row of winning 11 games. The Mountaineers haven’t fallen quite as hard as Louisville or Cincy, but they aren’t even close to the Rodriguez led teams. West Virginia has lost eight games in just the last two years.

Three coaches that were in the Big East in 2006 have their new teams in the Top 20 yet not a single team currently in the league can say the same thing.

Heisman Watch 2010

#1 Denard Robinson: Denard Robinson has superior speed along with the incredible ability to cut back in an instant. Through five games (technically 4 ½) Denard has rushed the ball 98 times for 905 yards and eight touchdowns and has passed for 1,008 yards and seven touchdowns. Robinson has led two game-winning touchdown drives already and has Big Blue back on the college football map.

#2 LaMichael James: James has rushed the ball 89 times for 732 and is averaging a little over 185 yards a game. LaMichael is the focal point behind what could be the best offense in the country and the Ducks are currently ranked #3 overall in the country.

#3 Cameron Newton: Newton has led the Auburn Tigers to the #8 ranking in the country which is very impressive when you consider they weren’t predicted to be a factor in the SEC preseason. He has thrown for 928 yards and 12 touchdowns while running for another 474 and 5 TD’s. Auburn still has to get through Arkansas and LSU at home, but if they can roll into their November 26th matchup against Alabama undefeated Newton could be the leading candidate for the Heisman.

#4 Mark Ingram: Ingram is be the best running back in the country, but Trent Richardson is taking too many possible carries from him. Couple that with the fact Ingram missed the first two games of the year and you have a mountain I’m not even sure Ingram can climb.

#5 Kellen Moore: Kellen will be in the picture all year because he plays for America’s beloved Boise State Broncos. If Robinson was to get hurt, sentiment could start to swing toward Moore as a legitimate candidate. Moore currently has a touchdown to interception ratio of 11-1 and has thrown for 1069 yards.
