Mark Cuban Meets WWE

If you didn’t get a chance to catch WWE this past Monday you missed out on Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban as the official guest host of Monday Night Raw. In typical wrestling fashion the WWE guest host got involved in the action and Cuban paid for interrupting the disagreement between John Cena and Shamus. Cuban was eventually sent through a table set up in the ring corner by Seamus and that was the end of Cuban’s stunt. Is there any question after watching this video why the ole codgers who run Major League Baseball won’t allow Mr. Cuban to own a team? I personally don’t think there is anything wrong with it, but MLB wouldn’t even allow spider webs on the bases a few years ago.

We haven’t provided many college basketball picks so far this year, but things are starting to heat up so this trend will change. I suggest you hop on these because they are straight butter.

College Basketball Bet of the Day – December 1st

Tonight at 9:00 PM EST we have the rematch of last year’s National Championship game and it’s being hosted at the Dean Dome in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Last year UNC took it to Michigan State, but I don’t expect the same outcome tonight. UNC lost a lot of talent and I think the Spartans have revenge on their mind. Take Izzo and gang!

Michigan State +2.5

College Football 34-22 (this year) 139-113-1 (overall)
NFL 32-15 (this year) 135-87-5 (overall)

Golden State Takes Out the Garbage

The Golden State Warriors have finally been able to ship Stephen Jackson out of town after an ongoing battle between Jackson and head coach Don Nelson. Jackson and guard Acie Law were traded from Golden State to Charlotte for guard Raja Bell and forward Vladimir Radmanovic. Jackson has been doing everything he can to get traded in recent weeks and it was rumored he was intent on heading to either Cleveland or one of the Texas teams. Each of these teams are “winners” and the Bobcats are 3-6 with a lineup not set up for success at this time. The under talented team in conjunction with all the baggage Jackson carries since he is prone to give up if things don’t go his way has me questioning how this is going to be a good fit with Larry Brown and Bobcats? Jackson is owed $28 over the next three seasons after this season which I feel is a contract GM Rod Higgins should have never taken on considering all the factors. Jackson is happy to be out of Golden state today, but the Warriors organization is happier to no longer have this cancer around and in the end Jackson will want out of Charlotte.

800 Wins..and Counting

Through 30 years of being a fan of Syracuse University basketball I have watched, listened and defended the team’s hall of fame coach, Jim Boeheim.

Many have maligned the permanent fixture on the Syracuse sidelines for the last 33 years as a mediocre coach.

Well after last night’s win against the Albany Great Danes another bullet was added to the list of reasons why Boeheim deserves to be included among the elite in college coaching and why he is a hall of famer.

Consider this:

  • 800-288 coaching record (.735) – all at one school. Only three other coaches can make that claim – Dean Smith, Adolph Rupp and Jim Phelan.
  • 8th all time in career wins
  • 3rd among active coaches
  • 356 Big East wins – #1 all time
  • 7 Big East regular season champions
  • 5 – Big East Tournament Champions
  • 31 – 20 win seasons, an NCAA record. And he has never had a losing season. Ever!
  • 2003 NCAA National Champions (4 Final Fours)

All this from a gangly walk-on to the Syracuse basketball program in 1963 who by his senior year had been promoted to team captain, and teamed with Dave Bing to lead Syracuse to the second NCAA berth in school history.

Not bad for a “mediocre” coach.

College Basketball is Back

The college basketball season returns tonight with a whimper, but it is back nevertheless. The defending national champion UNC takes on Isiah Thomas and Florida International while Ohio State takes on Alcorn State to kickoff the 2009-10 season. Then later on in the evening Syracuse plays Albany and California takes on Murray State. Things unfortunately don’t really heat up in college basketball until the Maui Classic in late November when teams like Arizona, Maryland, Gonzaga, Wisconsin, Cincinnati, Vanderbilt, Colorado and the home team Chaminade throw down. Like it or not it’s back so if you want to watch the Heels destroy Isiah’s new team which are 31 point dogs then by all means get jiggy with it.
