Agent Zero Out

Gilbert Arenas

Gilbert Arenas re-injured the same knee last night that he had surgery on last year. Arenas had two surgeries today on the injured left knee and will leave the Washington Wizards without their leading scorer for three months. Washington will miss his leadership and scoring and could be out of the playoff race by the time he rejoins the squad!

Michael Jordan’s Divorce Settlement

Michael Jordan

MJ is facing the largest divorce settlement ever for a celebrity. The word is Jordan will pay his former wife Juanita $168 million in conjunction with handing over their 7-acre estate in Chicago and she will get custody of their three children. I am shocked when stars like Michael, Paul McCartney and others don’t have a prenuptial in place because it seems absurd to have to turn over that much loot. I sure hope the Bobcats start picking it up because I’m not sure Hanes and Nike will suffice for income for such a high roller.

New Orleans is the NBA’s Best

New Orleans Hornets

I really thought these words would never be uttered from my mouth, but to be honest they probably won’t be again so it’s all good. The New Orleans Hornets are currently 4-0 in the NBA and they have the best record (technically) in the NBA. Sacramento, Portland, Denver and the Lakers have all fallen to the mighty Hornets this season with the Blazers up again this evening in Portland. Stojakovic, Chris Paul, David West, Tyson Chandler and Rasaul Butler are all averaging double digits in points for New Orleans so whether they are actually the best (wink, wink) this should be a team we see in the playoffs this year.

The NBA Season Begins Today

NBA

The NBA has declined in popularity in recent years for many reasons so I’m not sure how many people realize the season actually begins today. Ron Artest, Tim Donaghy, David Stern, Kobe Bryant, Allen Iverson, Steven Jackson and the thug persona is definitely a tarnish, but all in all I am still a NBA fan. The season is too long and more effort could be exerted on a nightly basis, but the NBA still has one of the greatest collection of professional athletes in the entire world. Tonight’s games are listed below.

Portland @ San Antonio
Houston @ LA Lakers
Utah @ Golden State

Houston Leaves Rest Home

Allan Houston

36 year-old Allan Houston has signed with his former team the New York Knicks for undisclosed amount. Houston said he wants another shot in the NBA because he didn’t leave by choice in 2005. He retired because of an arthritic left knee which makes me wonder how in the world this knee has miraculously healed in the last two years. Houston hasn’t played a full NBA season in five years when he averaged over 22 points a game. In 2001 the Knicks paid Allan $100 million dollars to play only one full season in then 70 games in the next two before retiring. The Knicks need to understand the reason we take history classes is so we don’t repeat our mistakes because all this team does is make mistake after mistake. Nice pick up guys…….NOT!
