I was so afraid this news was going to be released about the death of Cardinals pitcher Josh Hancock. It’s one of the main reasons I haven’t wrote about the unfortunate situation because of my own speculation of why it happened. It appears Hancock had a drinking problem to say the least and that is what led to his demise this past Saturday night. What a shame!

Alex Rodriguez doesn’t appear to be cooling off any time soon. A-Rod hit his 13th and 14th home runs of the season last night in a 10-8 loss against Tampa Bay. Rodriguez tied Albert Pujols record for the most home runs in the month of April and it’s possible he could contend with the overall record of 20 in a month by Sammy Sosa. A-Rod is on absolute fire, but his 8-10 Yankees aren’t at all.

The Milwaukee Brewers are first place in the National Central Division. They have won 7 out of their last 10 games. Can this be the year the Brewers really do something?

Forbes announced earlier this week the organization is now worth $1.2 billion. The New York Mets came in second at $736 million and the Red Sox third at $724 million.

Mark Buehrle pitches no hitter this evening against the Texas Rangers. It was the sixteenth in White Sox history and the first one in the Major League this year.

Mike Hampton will have tendon repair surgery tomorrow and will be held out of pitching activities for at least six months. This will leave the Atlanta Braves without a starting pitcher for an extended time for the second straight season. The thing that blows my mind the most is Hampton signed a $121 million dollar contract in 2001 with the Colorado Rockies and is still due $14.5 million this year from them and $15 million next year. I know he might like the sport, but now after his second big injury and a fading career I will call it quits and count my benjamins.
