Bring Back the Mullet

When you think of the best mullet ever rocked in the MLB do you think of anyone else before Randy Johnson comes to my mind? His mullet during his younger years will go down in history as one of the best ever by a professional athlete. Turns out Randy Johnson has also made history in another way after winning his 300th Major League game yesterday. Johnson led the Giants to a 5-1 victory after pitching six innings and only allowing

Randy Johnson one earned run against the Washington Nationals. “The Big Unit” broke on the scene in 1988 and over his 21 year career he has won five Cy Young awards, made 10 All-Star appearances, pitched a perfect game, pitched a no-hitter and won a World Series while garnering a World Series Co-MVP. I think we should all appreciate Johnson for becoming the 24th pitcher to reach 300 wins because there won’t be another athlete reaching this milestone for a LOOOONNNNNGGGG time. For all those people that think Sabathia has a chance to reach 300 please put down the crack pipe and step away.

MLB Bet of the Day – June 3rd, 2009

The White Sox are 13-11 at home and the A’s are a putrid 9-17 so I’m taking the Sox in the first game of the night. In the second game I’m going to take the Mariners because Baltimore is really struggling on the road with a record of 8-16.

White Sox -130
Mariners -125

Overall Record:

NBA 42-35
MLB 26-19-1
NHL 0-1

MLB Bet of the Day – May 31st, 2009

The Cubs are 17-7 in their last 24 Sunday games and 6-2 recently after a win in the previous game. I think Sean Marshall and the Cubs get it done tonight in Wrigley. Take the Cubbies!

Cubs -140

Overall Record:

NBA 42-35
MLB 26-18-1
NHL 0-1
College Football 106-92-1
NFL 103-72-5

Mr. T Sings Take Me Out To The Ball Game

Recently we provided video of Denise Richards trying to sing Take Me Out To The Ball Game during the seventh-inning stretch staple offered at Wrigley Field. Well, last night Mr. T had the honor or throwing out the first pitch and also getting a shot to sing the Wrigley Field classic and it was as brutal as you would imagine. I do have to admit that when Mr. T stated, “I pity the Pirates Grrr,” I was amused.

One other quick point. I know the recession has been hard on all of us, but you know it is bad when Mr. T has to drop his gold. 😉

MLB Bets of the Day – May 20th, 2009

I like Ervin Santana tonight at the healm for the Angels so I will take them even though they are on the road. The Dodgers are 16-3 at home so far this year so I will take them for that reason only.

LA Angels -120
Dodgers -130

Overall Record:

NBA 40-33
MLB 25-17-1
NHL 0-1
College Football 106-92-1
NFL 103-72-5
College Basketball 197-149-6

Smoltz’s Crib

Check out this video of John Smoltz’s backyard which includes three putting greens, golf tees, baseball field, tennis courts and a lot of acreage.

Citi Field Streaker

WE’RE GOING STREAKING! WE’RE GOING STREAKING UP THROUGH THE QUAD AND INTO THE GYMNASIUM, Snoop, Snoop-a-Loop, Hey hey its cool, its cool, bring your green hat lets go.

Ok, this is not quite as funny or cool as the famous scene from “Frank the Tank” in Old School, but check out this video anyway of a planned streaking at Citi Field home of the New York Mets.

Gary Dell’Abate Does Equal Baba Booey

I’m a huge Howard Stern fan and for anyone else who is we all know and love Gary “Baba Booey” Dell’Abate. The relentless shots he takes on the Howard Stern Show is constant and brutal, but he does his very best to take it in stride. That being said, one thing discussed a lot recently on the show was how nervous Gary was to throw out the first pitch at a New York Mets game. He got so worried with just a few days left he even thought about letting one of his boys throw out the pitch so he wouldn’t have to worry about screwing up. Well, in the end Baba Booey did go through with the pitch and I have to say it quite possibly is one of the very worst of all time. Check out this video of Gary Dell’Abate attempting to throw out the first pitch. Let the festivities begin this Monday on the Howard Stern Show.

Manny pulls a booner..literally

According  to Yahoo Sports.

A source close to Manny Ramirez said Thursday that the illegal substance for which the Los Angeles Dodgers slugger tested positive was not “an agent customarily used for performance enhancing.”

At least not on the baseball diamond. The source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the substance is supposed to boost sex drive. It is not Viagra, but a substance that treats the cause rather providing a temporary boost in sexual performance, the source said.

Ramirez, the source said, acquired the substance through a prescription from a doctor in Miami for his medical condition. The source intimated that Ramirez might bring legal action against the physician.

Manny Ramirez Bombshell

The Los Angeles Times is reporting that Manny Ramirez has tested positive for steroids and will be suspended 50 games starting today. DAMN! I have to admit I did not see this one coming in the least even after I told myself I would never be surprised about another MLB athlete getting caught. The list is getting smaller and smaller for MLB stars who never touched the stuff.
