This video clip of former Red Sox player Kevin Millar is a testament to the fact that Yankees fans hate the Red Sox!
Yankee Doodle Dandy
I have to think this is the song George Steinbrenner and Brian Cashman are whistling today after picking up ‘All Millenium’ pitcher Roger Clemens. Roger will make an astounding $28 million dollars to pitch for the New York Yankees for roughly a four to five month period. Clemens announced his signing yesterday at Yankee Stadium during the game between the Yankees and Mariners. The Rocket is expected to make his first start in the next three to four weeks.
The Yankees are currently 14-15 and 5.5 games behind the Boston Red Sox for first place in the AL East. Let’s not forget Clemens was part of the World Series champs of 1999 and 2000 with the Yanks. Does this turn their season around?

Another Yankee Pitcher Bites the Dust
Rookie phenom Phil Hughes had a no-hitter going into the seventh inning last night against the Texas Rangers before a hamstring injury ended his night. This was only Hughes second start, but he looked like a seasoned vet in only his second career Major League start. The Yankees did go on to win the game 10-1, but learned they have lost Hughes for at least a month.
Hughes is the fifth Yankee starter to miss games already this year. Mike Mussina, Jeff Karstens and Carl Pavano are all currently on the disabled list and Chien-Ming Wang also missed the first three weeks of the season with a hamstring injury.
I know their bats are great, but I’m not sure even the Yankees and Joe Torre can survive these injuries.
Mets Fan Gets the Smack Down
Note to self and all people attending a Major League Baseball game. Do not bring a flashlight into a game and try to shine it into the pitchers eye. I know it sounds trivial, childish and down right silly, but don’t do it unless you want to spend some time in the clink. It also will ensure that you don’t attend another game in that specific stadium for a LONG time. What am I talking about? A Mets fan has been banned from Shea Stadium for three years and has to spend 15 days in jail for these exact antics in a game April 20th.
Josh Hancock Update
I was so afraid this news was going to be released about the death of Cardinals pitcher Josh Hancock. It’s one of the main reasons I haven’t wrote about the unfortunate situation because of my own speculation of why it happened. It appears Hancock had a drinking problem to say the least and that is what led to his demise this past Saturday night. What a shame!

Alex the Great
Alex Rodriguez doesn’t appear to be cooling off any time soon. A-Rod hit his 13th and 14th home runs of the season last night in a 10-8 loss against Tampa Bay. Rodriguez tied Albert Pujols record for the most home runs in the month of April and it’s possible he could contend with the overall record of 20 in a month by Sammy Sosa. A-Rod is on absolute fire, but his 8-10 Yankees aren’t at all.

Brew Crew is Back
The Milwaukee Brewers are first place in the National Central Division. They have won 7 out of their last 10 games. Can this be the year the Brewers really do something?
The Evil Empire is Worth Serious Cheddar
Forbes announced earlier this week the organization is now worth $1.2 billion. The New York Mets came in second at $736 million and the Red Sox third at $724 million.
