Possible 2022 World Cup Destination

In case you haven’t heard the extremely wealthy country of Qatar is making a pitch for the 2022 World Cup. The video below summarizes the initial five design proposals for stadiums where the games would be played. Each stadium would provide on-pitch air conditioning along with cooling technology in the stands. Also, once the competition is over the upper tiers of the stadiums would be disassembled and donated to developing countries. I’m speechless after watching the video!

2007 QB Draft Class Officially Blows

Yesterday the Buffalo Bills straight up released Trent Edwards from the roster which was a little surprising even though he has been abysmal over the last couple of years. The 2007 crop of quarterbacks might go down as the worst ever when you consider the players drafted and what they are up to now. Check out this list: 1) JaMarcus “Biggest Bust Ever” Russell who is out of the league; 22) Brady Quinn who couldn’t play in Cleveland and won’t play in Denver; 36) Kevin Kolb has had three total starts; 40) John Beck drafted by Miami and now is a third stringer in DC; 43) Drew Stanton is generally the third stringer in Motown; 92) and finally Trent Edwards. FAIL!

Steve Smith Deserves Better

Carolina Panthers wide receiver Steve Smith is still one of the best in the league, but he doesn’t have a quarterback currently and time is slipping away. Smith had an unassuming performance yesterday with only three catches for 22-yards against Cincinnati. Smith was clearly frustrated and expressed his discontent after the game. “I wouldn’t necessarily call it frustrated; just disappointed, let down,” Smith said of his day of inactivity. “If they throw a ball, they’re going to throw me the ball. I’ve still got a job to do. I think I ran some pretty good routes. And hopefully they’re sufficient and the ball comes. If it does, I’ll try to catch it, and if it doesn’t, I can’t catch air.” Smith is 31 and can be a very productive receiver in the right offense. It might be time for the Panthers to make some calls to the Vikings and Chargers to see what they can get in return for Smith. The Panthers are definitely in rebuilding mode and the season is already all but over.
