This past weekend Keith “Sippi” Langston closed the door on a wonderful Pure Stock season at Orange County Speedway in Rougemont, NC winning the overall points race. Langston of Mississippi Motorsports is an up and coming hot driver and we expect big things from him on higher circuits in the coming years. Check out the action of Langston on the track in this video and from everyone at SportsUnderground we would like to extend a huge congratulations! Well done Sip!

My how far have the 49ers fallen…

When I was growing up as a young kid the 49ers were the best NFL program in the league and it started from the very top down to the bottom. These days Frisco has a terrible owner and horrible management therefore the final product isn’t going to flourish generally either. Earlier today Chris Mortensen broke the news that San Francisco would fire Mike Nolan after this coming week’s game against Seattle barring something big. Nolan hasn’t even had three and half years and if it wasn’t for Alex Smith being a major bust who knows how much progress this team could have made on the offensive side of the ball. It seems the 49ers brass didn’t want to wait until the end of the week once the news broke of the potential firing because just minutes ago they announced he Nolan was out. The only good thing I can say about this move is that assistant coach Mike Singeltary will be taking over the team and I hope for his sake he gets a fair shot at bringing this historic team back to their winning ways. Good luck Mike Singletary because you are going to need it.

StonecoldJZ’s Sound Off

* The Boys lost to the Cards yesterday 24-30 which was a big blow, but then came the news today that Tony Romo has a broken pinkie and will be out 4 weeks. 40 year-old Brad Johnson takes over in Big D’ and the scheduld bears at St. Louis, Tampa, at the Giants and then at Washington after a bye week. Dallas is currently 4-2 and is it possible they could be .500 by the time Romo gets back under center?
* Tommy Bowden steps down today in Clemson as head coach after the Tigers started off 3-3. Clemson came into the season as a top 10 team, but after a blowout loss to Bama in the opener the Tigers faded and even seemed to lose respect for their coach. Assistant head coach and receivers coach Dabo Swinney will take over and I wouldn’t be surprised in the least if Clemson comes out this weekend against Georgia Tech and plays their best game of the year.
* John Madden has called 476 consecutive games, but this coming Sunday the streak will end. Madden will skip the game this coming Sunday between Seattle and Tampa Bay because this would have been his third straight cross-country trip. Come on John! You ride in the luxurious Madden Cruiser, but you can’t travel from San Diego to Tampa to call a game? Please fess up and tell us you don’t want to call a game with Charlie Frye at the healm for the Seahawks.
* Stokley suffered his tenth concussion yesterday in a game against the Jags. Brandon, it is time to throw in the towel! If you don’t then your life down the road could be one filled with many complicating issues.
* The NBA announced they were laying off 80 people due to the economy. Ouch! I wonder if Stern for one second considered taking a pay cut?
