37-year old Pedro Martinez is heading back to the majors after passing a physical today with the Philadelphia Phillies. It had been reported Martinez would get close to $5 million, but now it appears Pedro has agreed to $1 million in base with incentives totaling an extra $1.5 million. The Phils have already used nine starters this year after last year when they only used seven total during their World Series championship season. Pedro should bring some balance to the shaky staff especially considering he pitched extremely well in the World Baseball Classic for the Dominican Republic. Just let your soul glow Pedro!
Antoine Walker Will Work For Food
Antoine “I never saw a shot I didn’t like” Walker has been charged by Las Vegas prosecutors for owing some serious cabbage to some Vegas Casinos. Walker who won a NBA Title with the Miami Heat in 2006 owes Planet Hollywood, Red Rock Resort and Caesars Palace close to $1 million. Looks like someone will be heading off to Europe for a couple of seasons since no one in the NBA is willing to give you a shot anymore.
Simona Halep Has Done the Deed
A little over a month ago we broke the tragic news that Simona Halep was considering having a breast reduction. Halep stated it was necessary to reduce her 34DD breasts in order to improve her overall tennis game. I’m guessing everyway she turned those mamma jamma’s just kept getting in the way. Today I sadly bring you the unfortunate news that Halep has carried out her threat and has gone through with the breast reduction. Halep has made a full recovery and is already back on the court training. Let’s all please take a moment to stop and pour a bit of our beer out for our lost homies.
Erin Andrews Foul Play
Last night Erin Andrews was hit in the face by an Alex Cora foul ball during the fourth inning of the Dodgers/Mets game. The ball struck the smokin hot Andrews directly on the chin and just a couple of innings later she was carted off to the hospital. No need to get to stressed out though because ESPN released a statement stating she was going to be just fine and would be working the MLB All-Star events and the ESPY’s this coming week. I don’t know about you, but this is definitely a sigh of relief on my part.
MLB Bets of the Day – July 9th, 2009
I’m really going against the grain today by taking the Rangers against King Felix and the Twins against the Yanks, but it is what I feel will happen. Dodgers rebound tonight after falling short against the Triple-A Mets.

Good Luck Natalie
The 2009 U.S. Women’s open kicks off tomorrow in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania at Saucon Valley Country Club on The Old Course. SportsUnderground would like to wish our numero uno Sports Babe Natalie Gulbis the best of luck in this LPGA Major. Last year you won the Evian Masters so this year let’s bring home the U.S Open. I know you only have two top ten finishes on the year and no victories this year, but anything can happen. Stretch it out girl!

Nate Myles Really Had to Go
I think for most of us it’s pretty much common knowledge rugby players like to drink them some beer and party. I mean weren’t they always the ones in a run down shack at your college who were consistently throwing keg parties and getting so drunk they ran into walls or jumped off decks? Nate Myles an Australian Rugby League star definitely fits the mold of your typical rugby players albeit a bit more overboard than most. Myles has been suspended for six matches after being found drunk and naked in the hallway of a high class hotel. That is pretty bad, but the bigger problem was he decided to drop the kids off at the pool in the hallway, but there wasn’t even a pool. Yes, Myles sculpted mud right out in front of God and everyone. It seems he was sorry though based on his statement, “I am just very embarrassed and very sorry.” “I had a stomach bug and what happened was just a terrible accident.” That must have been one serious stomach bug Nate and I’m betting it is all due to the 22 shots of Patron you had that evening.
Langston Continues to Shine
Keith Langston won his second race of the year at Orange County Speedway in dominating fashion this past Saturday. “Sippi” Langston led the entire Pure Stock race on the Fourth of July, but it definitely wasn’t without suspense during the final laps. This win gives Langston a commanding 26 point lead in the overall points race and he has his eyes on another OCS Pure Stock Championship.
MLB Bets of the Day – July 8th, 2009
The Mets are a Triple-A team at best these days so I like the Dodgers and Zona is on a four game winning streak and I’m betting the Padres don’t end it today. Good luck!

LeBron James Gets Dunked On
Word on the streets is LeBron James was hammered on this past Monday night by Xavier guard Jordan Crawford at LeBron’s Skill Camp. The more intriguing aspect of the story is that supposively Nike and LeBron requested the video should not be released to the public. Why confiscate the tape? Does this somehow hurt LeBron’s almighty image? Will the LeBron puppet not know how to handle another disappointment? There is no doubt at some point the video of Crawford two-hand jamming on LeBron will get out and rest assure when it does we will have it. Stay tuned.
