The Phillies closed out the World Series last night and then it was party time in the city of brotherly love. Check out this fan climbing on a street sign and then getting whacked with a bottle. Classic!

World Series Prediction

We hit our Rays/Sox series prediction right on the nose, but we didn’t see the Phillies beating the Dodgers. All in all we correctly guessed 4 out of the 6 winners and were able to nail 3 of the 6 series down to the exact game. That being said, it’s time to predict the World Series which kicks off tonight in Tampa, Florida. I’m sure the media along with Fox Network would prefer a much higher profile series, but I actually think we are in for a wonderful seven game series. When all is said and done the Tampa Rays win the series 4 games to 3 and successfully come from dead last in the MLB last year to World Series champs this year. Book it!

Is exactly what the Philadelphia Phillies did with Chase Utley so they could avoid salary arbitration. Utley received a new seven-year agreement for a whopping $85 million. The Phillies not only feel Chase is the best second baseman in the National League, but also one of the top 10-15 players in all of Major League Baseball. Utley hit 32 home runs and had 102 RBI’s along with a batting average of .309 for the 2006 season. Utley is definitely getting a huge pay raise considering he was paid $500,000 last year.

Chase Utley of the Philadelphia Phillies has now hit safely in 32 games straight after hitting a single today off the Florida Marlins. Utley has a long way to go until we really start to get excited, but it is very impressive nonetheless.
George Steinbrenner continues to show each year that he is not afraid to spend money to better his team. Yesterday the Yankees picked up Bobby Abreu from the Phillies along with starting pitcher Cory Lidle. The Yankees traded away four minor league players to the Phillies in return for Abreu and Lidle. New York’s need for pitching and a productive bat in their depleted outfield motivated them to take on Abreu’s hefty contract, hoping he can help them catch first-place Boston in the AL East. We have seen these big moves over recent years with the Yankees before the trade deadline, but it hasn’t paid off in a big way. I suspect come October the hopes and dreams of a World Championship for the Yankees will merely be the hope it comes in 07′ because they will not win it this year.
