Bobby Petrino resigns

I’m comtemplating right now who is a bigger dollar chasing lying weasel than Bobby Petrino these days. I’m not going to discuss the shadiness Petrino has exemplified in recent years by having SECRET discussions with Auburn in the middle of the night while still the coach of Louisville. I don’t want to even discuss jumping to the NFL a year after he signed a huge contract with Louisville because he stated he only wanted to remain the Cardinals coach right after chit chatting with LSU and the Oakland Raiders. These things don’t hold a candle to what Petrino pulled this evening. Bobby resigned as head coach of the Atlanta Falcons with three games to play in the season so he can become the new coach of the Arkansas Razorbacks. He can’t even coach his way through one season because things didn’t go his way? Especially after last night he said “We’ll come back on Wednesday to take a look at it, and then we’ll get back to work.” “We have to find something to rally around.”

Is the grass always greener on the other side Bobby? Do you not have the stones to stay somewhere and handle the ups and downs of a college or a pro program? Do you care about nothing but the mighty dollar? I hope you realize Houston Nutt was the coach of the year twice in the SEC with ARKANSAS and they still ran his ass out of Fayetteville!!!

Leftwich Exit Stage Left

NFL

Byron Leftwich

In a bizarre twist of fate Byron Leftwich is no longer the starting quarterback for the Jacksonville Jaguars. Jack Del Rio announced today that not only is David Garrard now the starter, but Leftwich will be cut or traded. Ouch! I knew there was no love lost between these two based on their disagreements from last year when Leftwich didn’t agree with being benched even though he was injured, but this is quite a surprise. The main question now is how long until the Atlanta Falcons acquire the veteran quarterback? If he doesn’t get picked up though he can always star as Rerun in What’s Happening II. :-)

Michael Vick Saga Continues

NFL

Michael Vick pleads guilty

Today Michael walked into a Richmond court and plead guilty to dogfighting charges. In his written plea filed last week, Vick admitted helping kill six to eight pit bulls and supplying money for gambling on the fights. He said he did not personally place any bets or share in any winnings.

BS, BS, BS! You funded, you set up the kennel, you attended fights, you gambled your a$$ off and you helped kill dogs.

The sentencing is set for December 10th and the judge made sure today that Vick was aware he can rule on this case however he sees fit. I sure hope this means the sentence will be for a lot longer than a year, but I just got a gut feeling that won’t be the case.

The Atlanta Falcons have announced they will not cut him at this time.

Michael Vick Pleads Guilty

NFL

Michael Vick pleads guilty

Vick finally ended the suspicion of whether he was involved in the dogfighting ring today by pleading guilty. He will walk into a Federal courthouse next Monday and make it official. The fallout for Vick will be huge in respect to the sentence he receives for prison, the inevitable suspension from the NFL and what steps the Falcons might take to collect previously paid money. I do want to point out that Michael pleading guilty might be the smartest move he has made in quite some time. Don’t forget to take a peek at our Michael Vick page.

Michael Vick Indicted

NFL

Michael Vick aka Ron Mexico

The top has blown off the ongoing dogfighting case and today Mr. Vick and three others were indicted on two felonies for sponsoring dogfights since 2001. The nineteen page indictment convicts Vick of traveling with his dog to fights, purchasing the home in Virginia to host fights, buying a kennel to supply dogs and horrible tales of how they killed injured dogs. It appears that one of the NFL’s glory boys and the star of the Atlanta Falcons is in a load of trouble and the biggest question right now will be if the NFL suspends him.

Time to Fess Up Michael Vick

NFL

Michael Vick

This dog fighting ring accusations centered around one of your residence’s in Smithfield Virginia has gone on long enough. First and foremost it happened at ONE of your cribs. You mean you have never been there and/or didn’t question why there was a kennel of pit bulls placed behind it. At least two of your friends have come forth to state you not only knew about the dog fights, but you attended many of them. Neighbors of the residence state they have seen you at this house “you have never been to”. Now there is word of supposed video tapes placing you on the scene of these dog fights.

Your new coach Bobby Petrino has stuck up for you through all of this and imagine what an ass you make him when everything blows up around you, him and the Atlanta Falcons. Step up and admit to your transgressions or else this could really get ugly.

Schaub Shipped to Texans

NFL

Matt SchaubThe Atlanta Falcons traded their back-up quarterback Matt Schaub today to the Houston Texans today. The two teams will switch first-round picks this year and Houston will get Atlanta’s second round picks in ‘07 and ‘08. This shocks me because it basically states the Texans have given up on five-year vet David Carr. I understand Carr hasn’t gotten in done in Houston, but their offensive line couldn’t hold back some defenses in high school. Schaub is not nearly as mobile as Carr so this could be a train wreck in the making. I think Schaub has solid potential, but this doesn’t seem like the right place for him.

Petrino to Falcons

College Football NFL

Bobby PetrinoThe former head coach of the Louisville Cardinals has decided to take over the Atlanta Falcons.  Petrino who has flirted with the NFL before feels like the head coaching job of the Falcons is the best in the NFL.  I look forward to seeing if he continues to feel this way when Vick is having his normal inconsistent issues and the owner is breathing down his neck for better overall performance.  I wish you luck Bobby and I really will miss watching your high powered college offense.

Louisville is now looking to hire Steve Kragthorpe the current head coach of the Tulsa Golden Hurricanes.
