Michael Jordan’s Divorce Settlement

Michael Jordan

MJ is facing the largest divorce settlement ever for a celebrity. The word is Jordan will pay his former wife Juanita $168 million in conjunction with handing over their 7-acre estate in Chicago and she will get custody of their three children. I am shocked when stars like Michael, Paul McCartney and others don’t have a prenuptial in place because it seems absurd to have to turn over that much loot. I sure hope the Bobcats start picking it up because I’m not sure Hanes and Nike will suffice for income for such a high roller.

The Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open

Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open

The title is not a typo so you are reading it correctly. The PGA unveiled today that Justin Timberlake will serve as host of its Las Vegas event in 2008. Justin is the 14th celebrity to host an official tournament joining others like Dean Martin, Andy Williams, Ed McMahon, Frank Sinatra, Jackie Gleason and others. The event will be held Oct. 13-19, 2008 and Timberlake will play in the celebrity pro-am and hold a concert that week. Timberlake should play well in the pro-am event considering he is a 6 handicap. I can assure you there will be more hot a$$ at this PGA event than any other one the entire year!

Michael Beasley Got Game

Michael Beasley

Kansas State landed this top recruit last year while Bob Huggins was still coaching for the Wildcats. Huggy Bear has since moved on to coach West Virginia, but Michael Beasley followed through with his commitment to stay and play basketball for K State. Beasley is already turning heads by dropping 32 and 30 in his first two games against Sacramento St. and Pittsburg St. I highly suggest you watch this kid every chance you get because he won’t be playing college basketball next year. There is a strong possibility this 6-9 forward could follow in the foot steps of Kevin Durant from last year by attaining National Player of the Year in his freshman year.

StonecoldJZ’s Sound Off

StonecoldJZ's Sound Off

* Jimmy Johnson and Jeff Gordon battle it out in Phoenix today with two races to go for the Nextel Cup Championship. I could care less because these two teammates are not on my liked list in the NASCAR world.

* Bean Town has more to cheer about these days with the Boston Celtics surging out of the gates with a 5-0 record. Could Boston actually sweep the three major professional sports championships this year?

* Highly touted OJ Mayo made his debut last night with USC by dropping 32 points, 4 assists and 2 steals. That is an impressive evening, but it didn’t help the Trojans because they fell at home to Mercer of all teams. Mercer hails from the Atlantic Sun conference where a little team called Gardner-Webb plays. Ever heard of them? 😉

* The Kansas Jayhawks are now 10-0 in college football after popping Oklahoma State last night 43-28. When do we finally say this team is for real?

* Miami said goodbye to the Orange Bowl last night in a most embarassing way. After decades of big games and wins Miami fell to Virginia last night 0-48.

Buckeyes Bubble Burst

Ohio State Buckeyes

Ohio State lost all hope of making the BCS Championship game in back to back years with a 21-28 loss last night in Columbus against Illinois. Zook the head coach of the Fighting Illini decided to go for it on fourth down against Ohio State’s #1 ranked defense in the fourth quarter and was able to pick up the first down. This led to Illinois running all over the Buckeyes and burning the last 8 minutes of the game to secure the victory. Ohio State lost this game due to only running three plays in the fourth quarter, poor play from quarterback Todd Boeckman, and the fact they couldn’t stop super sophomore quarterback Juice Williams of Illinois. I’m very excited that a Big 10 team can’t make the BCS Championship game because the league is extremely weak and it would have been exposed even worse than last year. Ohio State can still win the Big 10 Championship next week if they defeat Michigan, but the huge rivalry could have had so much more riding on it for Tressel and the Buckeyes!
