Plax Playing Hookie

Plaxico Burress

The New York Giants have suspended Plaxico Burress for two weeks after he missed a workout Monday and didn’t answer any calls from the Giants. Drew Rosenhaus who is the agent for Plax said he missed the workout due to a family emergency and this is all just a big miscommunication. In the end Burress will only miss next week’s game since the Giants are off this weekend, but he will also miss out on over 200 G’s.

I have to admit I’m not buying the excuse conjured up by Rosenhaus because I think Plax felt like Peter Gibbons from Office Space felt about his job and just decided not to go due to a case of the Mondays. “I don’t like my job, and, uh, I don’t think I’m gonna go anymore. You’re just not gonna go? Yeah. Won’t you get fired? I don’t know, but I really don’t like it, and, uh, I’m not gonna go. So you’re gonna quit? Nuh-uh. Not really. Uh… I’m just gonna stop going.” Can’t you see Coughlin being a bit like Lumberg??? Ummm yeah.

Something for Romeo to Think About

Derek Anderson

Derek Anderson after three starts has the worst QB rating in the entire league. Anderson and the Browns are currently 0-3 in large part due to the 43.5 QB rating and Anderson’s five interceptions. It’s still early, but the Browns season for all intent and purpose is over so shouldn’t they bring in Brady Quinn for some seasoning? I understand Anderson signed a hefty extension prior to the season, but if he isn’t getting it done then it’s time to make a change. Romeo Crennel has already announced Anderson is still the man this week, but Quinn will see more reps in practice. I feel if Anderson has a bad first half this weekend at Cincinnati then Quinn gets on the field for sure and maybe for the rest of the year.

The St. Louis Rams Suck

St. Louis Rams

The St. Louis Rams have been outscored in their first three games 116-29 by the Eagles, Giants and Seahawks. The sad thing is it doesn’t get any easier for the Rams because they face 3-0 Buffalo this week at home then at Washington, Dallas at home, at New England, Arizona at home and at the Jets in their next five games. The possibility of them going 0-8 is very high and I’m sure head coach Scott Linehan is brutally aware of the hot seat he currently resides on in St. Louis. I would like to point out that the Rams have a bye week after their game this Sunday against Buffalo so don’t be surprised if Linehan gets an early boot this year.

Grow Up or Get Out

Vince Young

News about Vince Young has been flying out of Nashville hot and heavy over the last few days and it hasn’t been pretty. Vince was begged by his teammates to get back into the huddle during their game against Jacksonville this past Sunday. Head coach Jeff Fisher called the cops Monday evening over concern of Young’s mental health after Vince couldn’t be located when he left his house without his cell phone. Young’s mother said he is “hurting inside and out” and she doesn’t know if he wants to play football anymore because of the recent booing he has received from the fans. Finally, there has been more confirmation that rumors about Vince Young wanting to retire after his first year in the NFL are true. All I have to say is grow the f#$k up! You are playing a manly sport and getting paid tons of cash to do so and if you can’t handle the fans getting on you then you should get out. Hopefully, over the next 2-4 weeks you will be able to reflect on what you would be losing while your sprained knee heels, but if you still even remotely feel this way then hit the road. Jeff Fisher is one of the best coaches in the league and right how he has your back, but if you can’t stand up and sack up then do us all a favor and quit for good.

Patriots Take a Giant Step Back

Bill Belichick

New England’s worst kept secret is now official because it has been confirmed that Tom Brady will be out for the entire ’09 season. Brady took a huge hit to his knee early in the game yesterday against Kansas City and never returned due to what we think is an ACL injury. I say we think because Belichick refuses to say today what the actual injury was that Brady sustained. Belichick is the king of playing cat and mouse games and after such a monumental loss like Brady I expect him to take his games to a whole new level. This New England Patriots are very old and now without questionably the best player in the NFL they could be in for a long season. Let’s face it they barely beat the Kansas City Chiefs yesterday in Foxboro with a 17-10 victory and the Chiefs are supposed to be a basement team this year. Only time will tell, but I foresee the Patriots not winning their division and possibly missing the playoffs.
