Slowest Sports Day of the Year

There isn’t one MLB game on the slate so unless you like afternoon WNBA games or International Club friendlies or Champions League qualifiers then you are pretty much sh*t out of luck. Since there isn’t much going on in the sports world today we thought it would be a good idea to give you some sexy female athlete pictures. Enjoy!

Bob Sheppard Has Died

We have lost a great name in sports today because Bob Sheppard the long time announcer of the New York Yankees home games passed away. There wasn’t rock or hip-hop music when a player went to the plate instead there was a simple announcement of the man, his position and his number. That is all we really needed to know and Bob Sheppard did it so well.

This like when we lose man like Chick Hearn, Jack Buck, Donny Most or Curt Gowdy. These long-time voices of sports teams are true icons and it’s very sad each time one of them passes away.

Here is Bob Sheppard reenacting the announcement of the line-up from Game 6 of the 1951 World Series. If this video doesn’t get your arm hairs rising with the ‘Field of Dreams’ theme playing then I guess you just aren’t a fan. Also, listen to who bats eighth in the New York Giants line-up. There was no DH which means they were one slot above the pitcher.

LeBron Nike Spoof Commercial

We have all seen the LeBron and Kobe puppet commercials by now, but I’m willing to bet you probably haven’t seen this one before. Internet rumors have run rampant for a couple of months now that Delonte West and Gloria James (LeBron’s mom) did the wild thing and LeBron actually caught the two of them in the act. This rumor also is correlated to why LeBron stunk it up in Game 5 against the Celtics, why he ultimately left the Cavs and so and so on. Well, this spoof commercial goes right at those rumors of Delonte and LeBron’s mom and brings it home hard.

LeBron and Delonte Nike spoof commercial: Shout out to Mad Max for the tip!

One other small point I would like to make. I’m not best looking by all means, but I feel confident I look better than Delonte!

MLB Bet of the Day – July 9th, 2010

The Marlins are 3-8 in their last 11 games on grass and Dan Haren is pitching for the Diamondbacks tonight. The stats don’t point to a huge edge, but this one is more of a hunch. Good luck!

Diamondbacks -140

Get It Over With Already

This has become a very busy July in sports especially more so than in any previous years I can remember. Usually after the NBA Finals it’s a bit quiet with just baseball to watch which is only in the middle of their season. So with the most boring time of year approaching, MLB All-Star week, we are actually glued to what is happening in the NBA and there is also a little something going on called the World Cup.

The whole NBA free agency period has been riveting and great water cooler talk for the last few weeks, but in last few days it has become quite ridiculous. We now have an ESPN one-hour show for LeBron James to inform everyone where he is going? Not to mention he is going to sign a multi-million dollar deal with a team of his choice while many people in the country can’t even get a job. If LeBron leaves Cleveland a town hit hard by this economy and does it on national TV than he is complete and total douchebag. I like LeBron James, but going on TV to leave the area who has supported you since birth would be devastating for the city and surrounding area. The only good thing that would come out of the event is James will be providing thousands of dollars of ad revenue from the event to the Boys and Girls Clubs of America.

I believe a three-star team if he actually does go to the Miami Heat will be a force, until something goes wrong. I mean the 80’s Lakers and Celtics were three-star team as were the Pistons, but that was many moons ago. How about the Lakers of 2004 that had Shaq, Kobe, the Mailman and Gary Payton, it failed miserably! If Miami is going to win a championship they need to get bigger and right now they have Bosh and Beasley.  They also need to fill a lot of other roster spots with basically no more cash under the cap. This could work, but a lot of things point to it not working.

In the end I just want this free agency period over so I can go enjoy the rest of my summer.

USC Already Paying the Price

It hasn’t even been a month yet and the USC football program is already feeling the effects of the NCAA sanctions levied on them. The best offensive lineman in all of high school football last year Seantrel Henderson has pulled out of his commitment to the Trojans. Henderson starred for Cretin-Derham Hall in Minnesota and was named 2009 USA Today’s offensive player of the year. The 6’8 337 pound behemoth was seen in Coral Gables over the weekend and will more than likely be a Hurricane before the week ends.

Lane, if you don’t already know this it is going to be a long two years for you in LA. Enjoy!

MLB Bet of the Day – July 7th, 2010

The Padres are 14-4 in their last 18 meetings in Washington plus the Nationals are really struggling in their last 20 overall with a record of 6-14. Good luck!
