MLB Bets of the Day – August 5th, 2009

I have been on a pretty decent clip recently in Major League Baseball and I’m expecting things to continue today. Let’s ride the wave all the way to bank!

Tiger Woods Stinks

Tiger Woods won the Buick Open this past weekend in impressive fashion, but that apparently isn’t the biggest buzz from the weekend of golf on the PGA tour. The bigger news revolves around whether Tiger Woods dropped straight a$$ on live TV or a crazed fan let loosed after his third burrito on the back nine of the Buick Open. Check out this video and tell me who you think dealt the blow. Tiger shakes his leg right before the Bronx cheer is blown, but I still think it is someone from the crowd. Thoughts?

Happy Birthday Brooklyn Decker

SportsUnderground.com would like to extend major birthday shout outs to Andy Roddick’s new model wife Brooklyn Decker. The Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model has turned the ripe old of age of twenty-two years old today and she is looking as beautiful as ever. Even though Brooklyn doesn’t technically play a sport, I think we need to figure out a way for her to make our SportsUnderground Sports Babes list because she is hotter than a Prada bag from Canal Street. Happy birthday girl!

LenDale White Likes the Worm

Bruising running back LenDale White of the Tennessee Titans has lost thirty pounds during the offseason and the method he used for shedding the pounds is quite interesting. White a former star for USC told an AP reporter that he completely cut tequila out of his life. “I was drinking a lot,” White, told AP. “I cut that out of my diet all the way. I don’t drink at all.” The weight, he says, “started falling off.” While I don’t believe for one second the only step White took was passing on Patron shots, but if that is the case he must have been one nasty binge drinker. On a side note, this is a contract year for White which is probably why he cut of his friendship for the time being with Jose Cuervo.

St. Louis Whoppers Will Happen

You laugh now, but I think someday there is a real probability you will see a professional team sell out to a company in full. As soon as one prominent team takes the leap by placing Dell on the front of their jersey it will only be a matter of time before others follow suit. The need for other revenue streams during the current economy woes has the NBA and NHL already taking steps to have corporate sponsorships for game uniforms.

Starting this year the NBA will let teams sell ads on their practice jerseys and per league officials they are continuing to explore the idea of placing ads on actual game jerseys. NHL COO John Collins says the league would consider placing advertisements on game jerseys for the right price. At this time the NFL and MLB aren’t looking at jumping on the money train, but things can change. I’m 100% against US professional teams mimicking European Soccer standards, but at the end of the day it’s a business so they are in it for the cabbage. Look for this to happen in the NHL first since they are the lowest performer of the top four American professional sports leagues. So be prepared to purchase your Carolinna Home Depot, Dallas Dick’s Sporting Goods, Chicago IBM and Atlanta Time Warner jerseys’.
