U.S. Open at Torrey Pines

Torrey Pines

The 108th U.S. Open has kicked off and in the near future the powerful threesome of Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and Adam Scott will hit the course. A lot of people are predicting Tiger as the favorite, but I think it’s going to be very difficult to win his first tournament back from surgery. I think there is a real chance for Phil Mickelson to win his first U.S. Open due to the experience he has at Torrey Pines. Phil grew up on this course and has seemed very focused this week during interviews. So what do you think? Tiger, Phil, or the field?

Langston Finishes Third

Orange County Speedway

Keith “Sippi” Langston started out third this past weekend at Orange County Speedway and ultimately finished the Pure Stock race in third. This was actually an amazing accomplishment considering he suffered serious damage to the front end of his car in the race. Sippi continues to do big things at OCS and we expect to see him as the points winner at the end of the season.

Dontrelle Dissed

Dontrelle Willis

Coming into this year Dontrelle Willis was a jewel in eyes of Tigers fans along with Miguel Cabrera who were both acquired in an offseason trade from the Florida Marlins. Detroit was hyped to be the the best team coming into ’08 and the front runners to win the World Series. Well, things haven’t worked out in Motown to say the least with the Tigers floundering ten games behind the White Sox in the AL Central and ten games under .500. Yesterday came the news that Willis was optioned to SINGLE A affiliate Lakeland. I know Willis had the worst ERA in the AL at 10.32, but what a slap in the face to send him down to SINGLE A! I guess the Tigers feel if this doesn’t wake him up then nothing will.

NBA Finals Bet of the Day – June 5th

NBA Finals

Celtics cover -2.5 against the Lakers

Tonight is the all important first game of the seven game series in the NBA Finals between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Boston Celtics. If you can take down the first game in the Finals you have roughly a 78% chance of winning the World Championship. While I think Boston will pull down game one I do think the Lakers will win the Championship.

NBA 27-18
MLB 8-2
College Football: 44-41-1

Horse Racing Hooters Style

Big Brown

Hooters restaurant will be making a big statement this Saturday at the Belmont Stakes. The owners of Big Brown have sold sponsorship to Hooters on the jockey’s leg for the higly anticipated race. Big Brown and jockey Kent Desormeaux are trying to become the first Triple Crown winner in 30 years. Also, if Big Brown makes it to the winner’s circle, he will be greeted by Hooters girls in T-shirts with big smiles. Corporate advertising is everywhere these days in sports so why wouldn’t Hooters bust their way into horse racing.

Ivanovic Makes French Final

Ana Ivanovic

We are still a little sad that Sharapova was beat earlier this week in Paris, but we are very excited Ivanovic is still in the mix. Ana beat Jelena Jankovic today 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 in the semis and will play Dinara Safina in the French Open final. Ivanovic is one smokin Serbian on the real and she can also play some tennis. Enjoy!
