Bend It Like Beckham

The beloved David Beckham scored his first goal with the LA Galaxy yesterday against DC United. Check out the video clip of Beckham scoring on a free kick in his first start. He is so worth the $250 million dollars they paid him. 😉

Imus Redemption

Don Imus

Why? If he is that bad and CBS wanted him gone does he now deserve a settlement from them for $20 million dollars? I have to call BS and then flip both my middle fingers at Viacom. They said they fired him because he made racist comments, but in reality he had been doing this during his entire time on “Imus in the Morning”. It boils down to what we all know it revolved around which was Viacom’s sponsors. If CBS held out two weeks longer then everything would have been just fine because the next big news story would have come along. I don’t support his comments in the least bit, but I’m totally willing to call a female sports athlete a “nappy headed ho” if I can get pizzaid on the backside.

Stick to Your Day Job Shane Battier

Lucky #13

Tiger Woods won his 4th PGA Championship yesterday at Southern Hills and now holds a whopping 13 major championships. Tiger is also now 13-0 in majors when holding a lead going into the final round. “El Tigre” is truly one of the most impressive competitors of all time. Tiger is now only five away from the record of 18 majors that Jack Nicklaus has in his arsenal. I truly think Tiger has a shot at 18 by the year 2010. Thoughts?

Harvick vs Montoya

Check out this video clip from the race at Watkins Glen yesterday when Kevin Harvick and Juan Pablo Montoya fight like two little girls.

33 and Counting

Brandon Webb 33 scoreless innings

Brandon Webb went out for the second time in a row and pitched a complete-game shutout for the Arizona Diamondbacks. Webb the ace of the first place Diamondbacks extended his streak of scoreless innings to 33 with the shutout against the Nationals. The reigning Cy Young award winner still has a long ways to go though to catch the 59 scoreless innings record set by Orel Hershiser.

Reborn Rick Ankiel

Rick Ankiel

Most of us have memories of Rick Ankiel as a highly touted prospect going totally mental during his short stint with the St. Louis Cardinals as a starting pitcher. Towards the end of his tenure as a pitcher he truly had issues even throwing the ball over the plate. Over two years later Ankiel has fought his way back to the majors, but no longer as a pitcher. Ankiel is now an outfielder and before being called up to the Cardinals he hit over 50 home runs in his last two years in the minors. Ankiel didn’t slow up in his debut as an outfielder in the majors by hitting a three-run homer in the seventh inning against the Padres leading St. Louis to a 5-0 win. Two days later Ankiel hit two bombs for the Cardinals lagainst the Dodgers leading to a 6-1 victory. Ankiel and his bat are bringing new life to a Cardinals team that has suffered through tons of injuries and a very disappointing season to date. They are now 6.5 games back in the NL Central and Ankiel could just be the edge they need to turn things around.
