Kobayashi Defeated

Joey Chestnut sets record at Nathan's hot dog competition

This year Takeru Kobayashi had his six year winning streak at the Nathan’s hot dog eating competition snapped by American Joey Chestnut.  Chestnut ate an astonishing one hot dog every 10.9 seconds to set the world record of eating 66 hot dogs in 12 minutes.  Kobayashi held the Nathan’s record at 53 1/2 before today and Chestnut just last month ate 59 1/2 at contest in Phoenix.  Nice work Joey and I hope you have some Pepto because your tummy is going to be gurgling for a few days. ;-0

Marbury Giddy Over Randolph

Check out this video clip of Stephon Marbury singing his praises for the acquisition of Zach Randolph. I think he should have been making a bigger deal about the fact they got rid of Steve Francis in the trade. 🙂

Keith Langston is Our Hero

Keith Langston

SportsUnderground.com’s favorite racer as we have discussed before is Keith Langston of Pittsboro, NC.  We finally had the opportunity to watch him in person this past weekend at Orange County Speedway and it was a blast.  Langston had to start from the back of the pack, but that didn’t last long at all.  Langston of Mississippi Motorsports was in first place by the second lap and was driving like a man on a mission.  There were times when he was driving extremely high on the 3/8 mile track to maintain his lead and it looked as if he was going to bring home the checkered flag until the clutch went out.  Regardless of the outcome he represented SportsUnderground.com in excellent fashion.  Langston will be back at it again tomorrow night in South Boston, Virginia and we wish him the best.

Hargrove Resignation Leaves Questions

Mike Hargrove resigns from the Seattle Mariners

I am having a hard time believing Mike Hargrove resigned yesterday from the Seattle Mariners because he lost his passion for the game.  His team was on a seven-game winning streak and they have the best record in the Majors since late May.  How do you struggle through six losing seasons with the Orioles and the Mariners then once you start winning you want out?  This is a man who has been involved with MLB since 1972 and 15 1/2 of them has been as the manager.  Something smells so fishy here, but I can’t put my finger on whether this was a locker room issue or if Hargrove is having personal issues.  Thoughts?
