MPC Computers Bowl

College Football

MPC Computers BowlThis game pits 6-6 Miami versus 8-4 Nevada. It will be the last time Larry Coker coaches the Miami Hurricanes. This season was a major let down for Miami to put it nicely. Will Miami come out and play up to their potential or will they let the stingy Nevada defense hold them down. I would really like to see Coker go out on a win because he is one of the real nice people in major college sports. I never and I mean never cheer for the Miami Hurricanes, but tonight I will be.  I will be watching this game if for no other reason they are playing on Boise State’s blue field. ;-)

Miami Who?

College Football

Greg SchianoIt seems the U isn’t the football Mecca it used to be after the news coming out of Miami today. Greg Schiano who was the defensive coordinator for the Canes in 1999 and 2000 will not be taking over the Hurricanes like everyone suspected because he is going to remain with Rutgers. Schiano has asked athletic director Paul Dee to remove his name from the coaching candidate list all together. Ouch Miami! Mr. Schiano would rather stay in New Jersey and coach the Scarlet Knights then take over a football team rich with football tradition. This rejection comes on the heels of Rutgers accepting an offer to the Texas Bowl. The U seems to be falling from notoriety quicker than Roseanne Barr putting down a KFC 12 piece meal.

SportsUnderground.com's Dumb A$$ of the Week Award

This week the award won’t be given to an individual because we have two teams in college football who decided they want the award way more than any individual. Saturday night the Miami Hurricanes and Florida International University broke into a melee for the record books. Thirteen players were ejected in total from the game and now at least 31 will be suspended for their next games after school officials were able to review the footage (link to video footage below). The penalties are not nearly strong enough for the actions these players took on the field. It was by far the worst display of behavior I have ever witnessed in a college football game. (Yes I am counting the South Carolina/Clemson brawl from a few years back)

On a side note Miami school officials are meeting today on the next steps for their football program. Could Larry Coker get fired even before the end of the season?
