Notre Dame and Charlie Weisz extended the worst start in the history of Irish football with a loss yesterday to the Purdue Boilermakers. The Irish are now 0-5 and on their way to at least 0-8 with upcoming games at UCLA and then Boston College and USC at home. Nice work boys…this is one heck of a record to hold.

I’m not going to lay out all of my bracket (errr.. brackets) because if you don’t have your brackets done by now then you should be shot.  I can’t tell you my bracket picks anyway because I plan on winning the $10 million from www.sportsbook.com for a perfect bracket.   I am however going to lay it all out for all the Underground peeps on who to bet on in the smorgasboard of college basketball action today.  Here is the first games of the day and if you agree or disagree feel free to chime in with your comments.  ENJOY!

The Duke Blue Devils mens basketball team fell out of the top 25 for the first time since the end of the 1995-96 team.  I remember that team very well because that was the year Mike Krzyzewski bowed out of the season as coach due to back problems.  I personally thought his ego and pride hurt worse, but nonetheless he didn’t finish coaching that year.  Well, this year’s Duke Blue Devils have now lost four games in a row and stand at a record of 18-7 overall and 5-6 in the ACC.  Will Krzykewski get a mysterious injury or will  the Blue Devils fall so far that they don’t even make the NCAA tournament?  These are the questions we will have answered in the coming weeks and I personally have enjoyed the fall from grace the Devils have endured.  Duke travels to Boston College this Valentines Day for what could be five in a row.

This bowl game located in Charlotte, NC offers up two teams with coaching limbo. Tom O’Brien the former head coach of Boston College recently accepted the head coaching job with NC State and will not lead the Eagles today. Navy’s coach Paul Johnson seems to be mentioned each time a job opening comes about because of all the success he has had with Georgia Southern and now Navy. Even with all these distractions I expect this to be a really fun bowl game to watch. Matt Ryan the quarterback for Boston College is extremely talented and Navy’s rushing attack is extremely explosive. I think the scoreboard will get a work out and Navy will give BC all they want and more.
