The hottest coaching candidate this year has finally decided where to coach next year. Ken Whisenhunt the former offensive coordinator of the Pitssburgh Steelers agreed to a four year deal with the Arizona Cardinals. Normally it has to be scary to accept the job with Arizona due to the preverbial jinx they have had on the franchise for what seems life forever. Whisenhunt though takes over a Cardinals team that has a LOT of talent and could become a contender during his tenure.

Happy New Year’s Dennis Green. You have just been fired by the Arizona Cardinals. Three years in Arizona with records of: 6-10, 5-11, 5-11. There was a lot of promise in Tempe, but no follow through and Green is now the seventh coach since 1988 when the Cardinals moved to Arizona. Who wants to be the next coach to enter the abyss?

This week it must go to Arizona Cardinals coach Dennis Green. Denny allowed his team to completely fall apart this past Monday night against the undefeated Chicago Bears and blow a 23-3 lead in the third quarter. Green utlimately had his own meltdown when he went on a tirade in the press conference after the loss. Then he coached his team to a pathetic 22-9 loss against the previously winless Oakland Raiders who many thought could go through the whole season without a win. There is no doubt in my mind that if the 1-6 Cardinals lose this week to Green Bay then Denny will be fired as head coach during their bye week.
Matt Leinart was the last of 255 drafted prospects to agree to terms after he signed his deal with the Arizona Cardinals. Leinart has missed the last two weeks of training camp because of the hold out. Leinart who was recently ripped to pieces by head coach Denny Green for his absense could make up to $51 million if he hits all the different incentive goals within his contract. The bitterness between the two sides will quickly fade once Leinart is throwing touchdowns for Arizona. Let’s face it, Kurt Warner cannot make it through this season without being hurt and then it will be Leinart’s team.
