Gardner-Webb Rolls in Rupp Arena

Gardner-Webb Runnin Bulldogs

I am so happy for my Runnin’ Bulldogs today. Gardner-Webb was in Lexington last night for the regional final of the Coaches vs Cancer Classic and were 25 point underdogs to the Wildcats. Well, the school I played for in ’95 and ’96 stepped up and bitch slapped Kentucky hard. Gardner-Webb won 84-68 which was a shock to say the least and nonetheless it was Billy Gillespie’s (new Kentucky coach) birthday! Not the best birthday present especially when the home crowd is booing you and the team while you are getting spanked. I can assure you the boys from the Bluegrass state will be practicing until they puke in the coming days after allowing this debacle to happen. Garnder-Webb will now play in New York City next week in Madison Square Garden against Connecticut more than likely. Go G-Dubb!

New Orleans is the NBA’s Best

New Orleans Hornets

I really thought these words would never be uttered from my mouth, but to be honest they probably won’t be again so it’s all good. The New Orleans Hornets are currently 4-0 in the NBA and they have the best record (technically) in the NBA. Sacramento, Portland, Denver and the Lakers have all fallen to the mighty Hornets this season with the Blazers up again this evening in Portland. Stojakovic, Chris Paul, David West, Tyson Chandler and Rasaul Butler are all averaging double digits in points for New Orleans so whether they are actually the best (wink, wink) this should be a team we see in the playoffs this year.

Schilling Sticks with Sox

Curt Schilling

Curt Schilling’s biggest fan Curt Schilling has signed on for another year with the Boston Red Sox. In all seriousness this makes complete sense for both parties because the Sox get one of the best postseason pitchers of all-time and Schilling gets another shot at a World Series plus $8 million more in chingy.

UCLA Football Coaching Rumor Mill

Chris Petersen

I think it’s pretty safe to day Karl Dorrell is out like a Members Only jacket at the end of this year as the head coach of UCLA. Wanna know who is the next head coach for this potential PAC 10 powerhouse? Boise State’s current head coach Chris Petersen will be the new head coach in LA next year. Rumors are swirling already and we are going to run with this story as a done deal! Once Petersen takes over the Bruins the rest of the PAC 10 better pay attention because this guy is a ball coach. If he can take the Boise State Broncos into a BCS game and stun a Stoopes coached Sooners team then you should know he is for real. The only way this doesn’t go down is if Rick Neuheisel blows so much spoke at the AD of UCLA that he can’t see straight.

Hingis Does Blow?

Martina Hingis

I just read some of the most random news I have come across in quite some time. Martina Hingis is retiring from tennis due to a positive drug test result from Wimbledon. She denies the test results, but doesn’t feel like fighting the outcome because it could take a long time to clear her name. Ummmm….bullshit! Coke doesn’t just hop into your system Martina so next time make sure you blame it on Britney. 😉
